The 4X4 has 174 HP while the 4X2 has 144 HP. Both are 2.5 liter turbo diesels.

The navara 4x4 174 hp performs equally the Toyota Vigo 4x4 3,0 D4d 163 hp. I was tempted by Nissans lower price, xenon lights, more hp and 5 speed auto. But just ordered a Vigo. Cruisecontrol, aftermarketservice and secondhandvalue tipped the scale. It will be my 3rd Vigo since 2004.

would not change my Navara for anything on the roads here, Great ride, good fuel economy, Service is great, and bonus is the cab is one of the widest, makes for a great relaxed ride,

On "redbook" its the Calibre model of the Navara that states that it has 174hp engine, which is wrong info, its the 144hp version. They have tarted the Calibre up with the bigger wheels and tyres from the 4x4 model.

Having owned a 4x2 Navara King Cab since its introduction to Thailand I would'nt say it was underpowered. At 60k km, it is nicely run in, and fully loaded it still shifts.

I am a little biased here but the best feature of my truck, was 70.55 Baht to 1 GBP, A lot of truck for under 9k GBP.

and the Vigo 4 door has better rear seat access, better rear seat comfort, better driving position/seat (power) and better low end torque (max torque from 1400rpm to 3500 rpm).. navara is overall longer, but vigo has better interior space and same length of bed (150cm).

Looks like we are here to bump heads again kata

Well as for the back seat, I don't ride back there! and haven't had a complaint yet from someone that has. The contractor for my house rode in my truck then went and traded his Isuzu and Vigo 2x4 in for two new Navaras.

Yes Vigo is a big truck but just not for me. But I still would not change my Navara.

NEVER argue with Apple or Toyota fanatics. They are convinced that they own the best and are not willing to even try anything else. If Toyota put their name on a big turd, the Lemmings would tell you what a great turd it is. :)

I buy a toyota back in april because the give me the best offer! If nissan give me a better offer that time I drive a nissan now.

I think all the trucks are oke!! And if you drive your car a couple year longer I think the resale price is not so importent.

Dont worry Bpriam1, were not bumping heads, we re discussing pros and cons. I am not a toyota fan. Evaluate the market ahead of every purchase. My saloon is a 2008 Accord 2,4, cause thats IMHO the best car in that class.

I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier 3.0 liter non turbo that has never had any problems. It has always been serviced by Nissan. It is VERY efficient and reliable. I was quite disappointed when they hopped up a 2.5 liter rather than a 3.0 liter. Getting that much power out of a 2.5 liter gave me concerns about reliability. So far I have not heard about any problems. I would have also felt better if they had made the truck smaller rather than bigger. Bigger truck and a smaller engine with much more power just doesn't seem right.

I have a 2 year old Vios and due to forthcoming events am looking to change it for a pick up and have been looking at all the pick ups show room visits brochures etc and have come to the conclusion that it will be a Nissan Navara probably the LE with the larger wheels the same as the Caribre. (an Extra)

I was a little bit dubious about the 2.5 Ltr engine but it seems to have a little more HP compared to a simular Toyota sized engine the Nirvara looks good in my opinion as far as a truck is concerned mitsubishi tried giving their LT200 a futuristic look which i dont think has worked and even thinking when i first saw one and thought yuk but like all things new given time it might appeal to me,but never has, others would i suspect have a different opinion.

When i went to the show room i was told the free bees included the rear bed liner the rear bumber the foot step (Rail) the window thingy (The thing that alows you to have the window open a little with out rain entering) the mud flaps, one years insurance and the number plate, and 10000 Bht of if paying cash i cant compare this to Toyota or DMax cos i have not asked them yet! May be some one else here can comment on the freebees available from other Truck companies but i suspect they are all very simulare to what they suposedly call freebees

The manual (Nirvara)has a 6 speed box and the Auto 5 speed, i am looking at the auto .

I like the Smart cab or open cab concept as i realy want a pick up with a large bed with out having a full 2 door cab . i think Mazda (Ford) were the first to introduce this smart cab concept which all the others seem to be adopting.

Toyota do offer a 3 speed Auto box but it is a petrol engined 2.7 V VT-I model.

It would be nice to hear more from the people who have the Narvara Auto as their observations and experience good or bad would be apreciated. and i do apologise to the original poster for not being able to help much or at all come to that regarding the Engine HP discrepency, but i am sure others more in the know will be able to help.

One thing i would say about the ride is i have come to learn that the ride from a pick up is not going to be as good one would have with a Saloon car alough i would imagine a vast improvement over the years, and many many times better over a Suziki Caribbean i owned a few years back.

Toyota are the most popular pick up in thailand followeD by DMax there quality and number of service and sales offices are very high and goes a long way with Thai people when buying but Nissan have been making Deisel engines and cars for a long time too. and i think having two service centers (I no of, may be more) in CM is two more than none at all.

One question is i realy would like to test drive a Few tucks does any body no if all the truck companies have this facility ? (Test Drive) it is some thing i always forget to ask.

Garry A - This weekends Bangkok Post Auto section (online) has a review of an updated Mazda BT 50, Its a 2.5L. The Ford Ranger XLT, again a 2.5L and Toyota which now has a new 2.5 VN Turbo engine and with the Nissan, all the HP/Torque figures are pretty much the same.

The new Vigo was reviewed a few weeks back in the Bangkok Post. I sure its available in 4x4 model as well.

Toyota have brought it out as an alternative to the 3L Vigo models.

I too agree with you about the size of these trucks, my previous pickup was the Frontier 2.7L, non turbo King Cab and that was about right. I presume Nissan just had to keep up with the big Vigo & Hi-Lander!.

For the above Poster you should be able to get a test drive at your local Nissan dealer, I did, it was the 4x4 model but I purchased the 4x2.

With the Navara you can have any colour interior trim you like, as long as its beige!!

That was the only downfall inthe purchase, as i don't feel I'm old enough yet for a beige interior.

I just don't know what is with Thai's ant Beige, Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! My Grandpa buys Beige.

What ever happened to "mikethevigoman"?, I liked his input on the Thailand pickup scene.

I think his last truck was a Navara 4x2 auto.

I think he went back to the UK or USA some time ago.

It will be my 3rd Vigo since 2004.

May I ask why you've chosen to change your vigo 3 times in 5 years? Aren't you losing a lot on resale value?

One year, 30-40 k km is 100-150 lost. So far. 3 years/100k km is 400+ lost. No repairs, no fuzz, just get a new one.

I've got a 2008 vigo 4x4 but it handles like shit in the rain. Be sure to use the four wheel drive when it's raining. Also the brakes seem inadequate for the weight and power ratio to me. I know they are anti-lock but are they really strong enough to stop one of these tanks (4x4 model) at high speed? :D

I also don't care for the front end as it's 100% plastic so literally shatters on impact in even the smallest collision. I bumped into a motorbike once when I was parking in front of 7/11 and the front end fell off! Fortunately, I had duct tape to hold it in place so I could get back to me home. :D

Also ever notice when you drop something between the seats like your keys, billfold or passport that you have to get out of the car and nearly remove the seats to get the dame things? :D

The driving lights are halogen on mine as nothing else was available but these are not nearly as comfortable for driving at night as the modern lighting available on some of the others. :D

The Automatic transmission is nice on the road but it does come at a cost to off road use and fuel economy also when the batery fails (and it will) you can't bump start an automatic so you will need assistance! :)

I had a Tiger 4x4 before this one and in my opinion it was a much more robust and a better handling truck. :D

Must be a terrible truck for you. I ll trade it with a Tiger, no cash :D

According to BKK post testers, 2008 Vigo handles on par or better than the other trucks, lights are better than most others. Plastic front is to pass collision tests, like all others.

2009 Vigo is the only truck with ESP (stabilitycontrol). Makes it handle better than any other LOS truck.

2009 Vigo has 16 inch brakes, makes it brake better than any other LOS truck.

Plus Nissan are the only firm to offer an automatic 2.5L 2x4, If thats what suits your needs.

ERR where do you get this idea ?

Mitsubishi Triton Pickup has 2,5L Auto 4sp RWD in all Trims

Ford Ranger Pickup DCab Hi-Rider WildTrak XLT Auto 5sp RWD 2.5DCT

Mazda BT-50 Pickup Hi-Racer Auto 5sp RWD 2.5DCT

High speed is maybe 120km (it'll do 170km!!) but the breaking is weak on this as compared to the Tiger DVD but the Vigo is a heavier faster more powerful truck. Anywhere to get the specs on these Thai approved trucks as to make a comparison. :)

That impact zone may just save your life in a crash

I just hope the air bags work as I believe max. liability is 400,000 THB and my life is worth just a little more then that. :D

Yes, xenon blind other drivers much better

Is this true or did you just making this up? :D

That situation applies to ALL auto's

That's why I'll go with a manual next time. :D

Maybe he means Tyre size ? But then the Vigo are skinny things

Vigo 205x16

D-Max 245x16

Triton 245x16

No idea if it is normal for Vigo drivers, but the odd times I have been at the air pump at the same time as a Vigo they put 40 to 45 in those skinny Things ?? :) ..

Should i be concerned with my recent views on the possible future purchase of said truck in the light of possible safety issues

Any body know if the safety concerns expressed in the BBC crash safety Report Tuesday, 26 February 2008, have been addressed by Nissan and have any modifications relating to the safety been incorporated in the 2009 models here in Thailand

A episode of only fools and horses come to mind (UK Comedy show) where Del and Rodney are escorting two life sized blow up dolls out of Their condo block and ask Grandad to go get the 3 wheel Van , Grandad replies but i am not insured Dell, Rodney replies rather sharpish,,well dont have a crash then.
