I have a 7 hour stop over at Suvarnabhumi on the way to Manila this weekend.

I'm arriving by China Airlines from Amsterdam, who I know will not transfer my bags to the Philippine Airlines flight.

So my question is this:

Is baggage reclaim before or after immigration?

And if it's after I assume I have to pay the departure tax?

If I have to pay it I may aswell go for a trip into town.

Hummm! That's pretty pants!

And I probably can't check in my bags 7 hours before take off.

Go down to the lower floor , head outside turn right and walk to the end of the terminal. You should find a small thai place serving cheap beer. Best place to while away a couple of hours until you can check in.

Turn LEFT, perhaps a better idea?

Buy a paper, preferably Bangkok Post.

Go to ground level, turn right, go past gate 8.

Enter Magic Food Point, buy a cheap as, feed and drinkies.

Settle back, eat, drink, do X-words and other puzzles.

That will fill in lotta time.

If you have a laptop, find a WiFi hotspot.

Good luck.
