Hi.

How stupid is that Raider owner? I mean come on.... that thing must FLY, but to REALLY be competitive he needs to remove those passenger foot pegs. Or i'll still smoke him with my Bulldozer.

Now what's a real bike? In Germany HD riders don't look at anyone else, they think they have the only real bikes. here in Thailand i had an HD rider (Thai guy, guessed 50 years old) walk all around my bike and check every little detail on it as if it was some sort of miracle, then he told me "i used to ride one of those.... great bikes..... nice mods!" Then he got on his Electra Glide and rode off. Wow, i feel honoured with my little two-stroke Yamaha, he must have used his life-savings to get that Harley (which appeared all stock, but nice nevertheless).

Others say "it only is a real bike when it has four cylinders dressed in plastic and revs 12,000 rpm".

Same goes for "what is a real biker". is it those guys in the movies that cruise from one end of the U.S. to the other on Harleys? Or those that go around in circles on their screaming yoghurt cups? Or Somchai who lives in Yala and has a girlfriend in Chiang Rai, so he goes to visit her on a Honda Dream? Am i myself a "real biker" because i wanted to visit a friend in Mosbach/Baden, which was 350 kilometers one-way, only to find he wasn't at home so i rode back the same day - on a 20 year old 50cc Zundapp, and i didn't even bring tools with me or money other than for gas?

My personal opinion - it's a bike if it has no more than two wheels and an engine. It's a real biker if he/she sits on a bike and rides it.

Best regards......

Thanh

I have a Steed 400 here in Thailand, and really enjoy it. I have a bigger sports bike in Singapore, but it would be uncomfortable and dangerous here - not because of the bike, but because I would tend to ride too fast for the potholes, buffalo, goats, etc. So I get on my Steed, ride around slowly, enjoy the wind in my open-face helmet and look at the country-side. On the sports bike, in full-face helmet and protective clothing, it is hot but ok on faster safer roads (Singapore and Malaysia). Horses for courses.

Cheers,

Mike
