I am am American married to a Tha lady. I would like to take her to visit the US but at the moment not ready to live there. Will apply for a tourist visa. Is it possible to get her a 10 year multiple entry visa or does in depend on the one doing the interview. Does she have any advantage in being married to an American?

Believe the 10 year visa is normal. Be sure to document your ties and plans to remain in Thailand (or outside USA) as well as hers as there may be suspicion that you are trying to enter US and then change status without the normal immigrant visa process otherwise - especially if marriage is recent.

Thanks for the information. Been in Thailand about 8 years and been married for the last 5 years. Any suggestions on how to document intent to stay out of the US for myself and my wife.

I used a letter from my company saying I was on a permanent overseas assignment with yearly home leaves.

Ownership documents, (house, condo, car), Thai bank account books. Are you here on a Non-O visa? Retirement? Marriage?

Not much different than a Thai National has to prove...can you show intent on returning to LOS? You won't have a chance to make your case unless invited by the consular as she will be interviewed alone. She can show your docs at that time however.

That should do it quite well. :o

If you have business holdings or employment take proof along in case asked and be sure to put it down in the misc. information page of her application.

My husband got one no prob, but then I have been on a one year extension for about 12 years, he has money in the bank, owns the house, has his own business and had a green card that he surrendered when we chose to live in Thailand instead of the US. But, I believe you need to have an interview to get one (which, btw, he sort of had, we stood at the counter while the consular officer talked to both of us). Otherwise, I believe, without the interview, it is the standard one visit visa.
