Miss Poland contestants visited a spa in Phuket.

After arriving in Phuket on 7th October, 24 Polish beauty contestants, who are all finalists, took part in a preparation camp until October 11th. The beauty contestants were led to Thailand by the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Frankfurt office director Mrs. Suwalai Pinpradap during October 5-14 and visited Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. While in Phuket and the Andaman provinces, the contestants visited many tourist attractions. On Saturday they visited the Sukho Spa, a Cultural Spa and Wellness centre in Chalong, Phuket. They were filmed by Polish media at the spa while taking part and learnt about Thai culture including traditional Thai activities such as Thai massage, oil massage, fruit carving, garland making and putting on traditional Thai outfits posing for the cameras. The organizer Elizbieta Wierzbicka stressed that the event will greatly help promote Thailand for Polish viewers as it is not so well known. 50 Miss Teen Thailand contestants also arrived in Phuket to stay at Kata Beach Resort.

A contingent of 50 contestants aged from 15-18 for the Miss Teen Thailand 2009 contest arrived at the hotel on Wednesday afternoon for a 5 day stay as part of their preparation and video shoots for the finals to be held later in Bangkok. They posed with the elephant statues in front of the hotel while many tourists and passer-bys looked on, stopping the traffic for a short while. Some posed with hotel guests for photos. Then they were led into the hotel with a traditional drum parade, and welcomed by the Kata Group of hotels’ operators. After posing for a group photo with a banner, they cooled off with cold towels and Phuket pineapple drinks, and started to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and cool sunset views over Kata beach. A group of five English speaking girls told Andaman News how much they were looking forward to their stay in Phuket, which includes elephant treks and sightseeing around the island, and the contest for which viewers can vote for their favourites at www.MissTeenThailand.com
