Hi!

I am thinking about going to Kuala Lumpur and apply for a new thai passport.

I am adopted and have thai birth certificate and a paper from Tabien Baan declaring that both my parents are thai. There is also my thai 13 digit personal number.

The old thai passport i have is of me, only 1 month old but it is still a thai passport.

I do not have any house paper but lots of adoptionpapers.

What are my chances?

How long does it take for them to make a new thai passport and what is the cost?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Take care!

Hi!

I live in Thailand now with Non imm visa O, but would like to get back my thai citizenship.

I have tried different ways here but with no luck.

My adoption papers are false and there is a problem to proove i am me according to my papers.

I was thinking that it might be easier to try and get a new thai passport in an embassy outside thailand.

I know other adopted who have beeb able to get back their citizenship that way although their papers have all been true from the beginning.

I remember there was thread regarding your situation some time ago and it's a messy one.

I would assume embassies are not issuing passports but access to MFA database and input the information there and they send the pp from Thailand to embassy in question. So it might take anything from couple of weeks to month or more. Just my guess.

Anyways with the mix up in your adoption papers makes it more difficult. Maybe you can try if you have the time and money. Other options would be trying to prove your nationality via DNA testing etc if any means possible but maybe Samran can advice you more on those as he seem to have some experience.

Good luck.

Others obtain passport in home country Embassies on basis of a legal Thai birth certificate issued by the Embassy on basis of local version which you do not seem to have or the paperwork to obtain. Do not believe any Embassy can change this requirement. Believe your best chance is detective type investigation of your background and attempt to find family ties and perhaps use DNA testing to them to prove relationship. I do not see any easy answer; but hope I am wrong.

But your first post indicates you are Thai and have full paperwork.

If you have legal Thai birth certificate and 13 digit ID card number (which I have no idea how you obtained if you were not in Thailand) do not understand why you can not obtain a passport here in Thailand. Thai ID card number means you are on a home register somewhere and can be looked up at any District Office.

Thank you for good advice.

You are right MJo, i had a rather messy thread about this before.

It takes a lot of energy and emotion to clear out what is the best to do. I have tried for a very long time, but i also have a family to take care of.

I understand that life is not as "valuable" here as for instance in Europe. At least not in the 1970s.

People without money did easily sell their children and hoped for them to get a better life abroad with western parents and education. I understand them, i can't blame them for doing so, they thought they gave their children everything they could not give them themselves. And they did!

I only wish there weren't those bad people making so much money on it.

Some of us are kidnapped or stolen with false identification papers.

It is a real mess and i am trying my best to accept that it might be impossible to ever find out what happened or any truth at all in this.

I am not bitter, i do my best to help others in the same situation because i think that together we are stronger than one on one alone. If my experience can help someone else, i am happy for them.

Sorry if this post got a bit emotional, i hope you didn't mind.

Take care!

So how much is a DNA-test in Bkk?

Another thing with DNA-tests.

Are the government offices actually allowed to ask people for DNA-tests?

I guess they are.

Have you actually tried renewing your passport?

We renewed my daughters expired passport just by showing the old passport and her ID card.

No i havn't tried to renew my passport yet.

Thank you for your suggestion. I now have another idea of how to solve this.

Please feel welcome to read the other thread about it:

I gave you some pretty solid advice on the other thread:

Easiest option I think is to go back to Sweden.

My sister, an Australian citizen, living in London, got her Thai passport back in December 2008 from the embassy there. She hadn't lived in Thailand since 1981.

She had her old Thai passport, and a photocopy of her Tabieen Baan (albeit current) since she had no ID. She also had her birth certificate.

In combination with your Swedish passport, which proves your current identity, it should be very possible to get the Thai passport there.

Once obtained, you can return to Thailand on your Thai passport, and go to ANY ampur where the house owner is willing to take you on and you can go on the house register and get your ID card.

I dare say much simpler - and probably cheaper when you think about it.

The requirements are much simpler at embassies. You only need to prove that you are a Thai citizen to issue you a passport. Your birth certificate and previous Thai passport already prove this.

Best way.

By the way, that sister is now back in Thailand from London, used her Thai passport to enter, just yesterday.
