I want to share my experience so far when reporting 90 day stay on B one year multiple entry visa.

I had to undergo eye surgery in Bangkok where I live. Surgery was on the 9th. of October and the first 90 days expired on October 18. I could not see clearly for over a week and on the 18th. I sent a registered letter with all the required documents, a copy of the procedure done at the clinic and my Tilac wrote a note in Thai explaining the reason I reported by mail.

Today, October 30 I get the envelope I included with the documents and a note warning me that my 90 day period expired on the 18 of October. Hello! How did they know my address if not because I sent the required form, documents and the envelope with a 5 THB stamp stating my Bangkok address.

The note also makes reference to the THB 2,000 I will have to pay for late filing of the note.

This is the text of instructions as they appear in th website of the Immigration Bureau:

  1. The foreigner makes the notification in person, or
  2. The foreigner authorises another person to make the notification, or
  3. The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail.
  4. The notification must be made within 7 days before or after the period of 90 days expires.
  5. The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

Are they playing dumb on the assumption that Falangs are dumber and daunted by the difficulty of the Thai language or they are screwed up like all bureaucracies of this world?

Next week I will go in person to the new facility in the Victory Monument area and see what happens.

I will post the result of my experience afterward for the benefit of all.

In the meantime if some of our learned members can explain this disconnect, I will be appreciative of the input.

My thanks to our gracious members Lopburi and Maestro who, along with others my memory cannot recall contribute to the enlightenment of the denizens of Farangland.

Sorry but if you have the Visa you mentioned above you do not have to make a 90 day report. You have to leave the country.

Are you getting confused with a 12 month extension of stay?

If reporting by mail you do not get 7 days after. It has to be arrive on the date or before.

If you really are on multiple-entry Non-B then you should have left the country and are now on overstay. If you are on extension of stay you have to do 90 day reporting. The information on the immigration website is conflicting. If you scroll down a bit further there are the requirements for reporting by post and there is no 7 day extension allowed.

Notification by registered mail

1. Copy of all passport pages (up to the latest arrival stamp in the Kingdom or latest visa stamp)

2. Copy of arrival/departure card TM. 6 (front and back)

3. Previous notifications of staying over 90 days (if any)

4. Completely filled in and signed notification form TM. 47

5. Envelope with 5 Baht stamp affixed and return address of foreigner for the officer in charge to send back the lower part of form TM. 47 after having received the notification. This part must be kept for reference and for future notifications of staying over 90 days.

6. The above mentioned documents must be sent by registered mail and the receipt of the registration kept by the foreigner.

Send the mail before the renewal date 7 days to ….

I live in Pranburi and I recently reported by mail to Bangkok. It was OK except they suggested next time that I should do the reporting at my nearest immigration office i,e. Hua HIn

Does anyone know if there is a new address where the reports are to be sent....or still the same even after the Immigration Bureau's move from the Sathorn area? Thanks!

You need to do 90 day reporting at the immigration office covering the area where you live. If you are resident in Bangkok, you can do 90 day reporting by post to the new office at Chaeng Wattana:

IMMIGRATION BUREAU (90 DAYS REGISTRATION)

Government Center Chaengwattana (Building B, 2nd floor) ,

No. 120 , Moo 3 , Chaengwattana Soi 7

Chaengwattana Road , Tungsonghong Sub-District, Laksi District,

Bangkok 10210

or can visit the One Stop Centre at Rasa Tower

To me, this post sort of summarizes an attitudinal problem on the part of many who contribute to this forum. Let me explain.

I don't know all the rules about various visas and extensions of stay. That's one of the reasons I often start with TV. There are some very knowledgeable posters here...Thaiphoon being just one. It appears from what I have read in the above postings that the OP is in the wrong about his status. Okay, we all make mistakes...and perhaps this one is a whopper. I sincerely hope it works out for him.

But look at the way it was originally presented:

About the Thais: "Are they playing dumb...or they are screwed up...?"

About the farangs: "In the meantime if some of our learned members...I will be appreciative of the input. My thanks to our gracious members Lopburi and Maestro who, along with others my memory cannot recall contribute to the enlightenment of the denizens of Farangland."

If Thais are always so dumb and screwed up, why exactly do so many of us want to be here?

An excellent point, phetaroi. In fact, it would have served the OP right if nobody at all had replied to his post. As it turned out, it is the OP who was proven to be dumb or screwed up.

If indeed the OP is on a one year extension and is required to do the 90 day address report, then the best thing for him to have done is to send the “Tilac “to immigration with the documents and a power of attorney and she could have done the reporting for him rather then just writing a letter in Thai.
