Went to the labor office in Chonburi last week for my work permit and was surprised to find that they took out the police report and also copies of the culture course, diploma's and (bachelor) degrees... They were not needed, the lady said.

Saw a question about the Thai culture course in Pattaya a while ago on this forum and can't find it anymore. The person asked for the address, (which I'm not sure I can give on this forum).

Heard a month ago that the culture course was a requirement for my work permit, so I went to Pattaya.

Had two unexpectedly funny & interesting days and would recommend this course to anyone. :) Its easy to understand and covers all you need to know about Thailand.

Address: CTLS Language School (www.tlslanguageschool.com) Pattaya

Thai Culture Course:

- Workbooks and a book with questions on various topics (texts) for the Thai Government

- Slight shows on all topics

- Thai Culture trip (for us this was the floating market)

Also found out there that if one doesn't have a teacher's license from their home country, one is required to take more courses to obtain this license. (the courses are spread out over 3 years)

Two posts deleted: One an off-topic, negative post on Pattaya in general and second was a reasoned response, but with the quote of the deleted post.

Let's keep it civil.

I am glad that some of the Cultural courses are enjoyable and some people are learning something from them. The staff where I work have mostly been pleasantly surprised by the course. Ours was sponsored by our school Admin and it took place on our school campus, so it was rather convenient. Some of the newer teachers felt like they got a lot out of it. Some of the longer-term teachers felt like they didn't learn a lot, but found it put a few things into perspective and it was enjoyable.

The presenters were quite laid back and interactive with the staff. Our Admin was busy watching the presenters and criticizing them for allowing too long for coffee breaks and lunch and letting people go early! Such is Thailand.
