Hi,

Tomorrow I will leave chiangmai to come and live in the surroundings of CR town.

My wifes house was a nightmare but with a lot of renovation it is a dream now (still amazed how inexpensive Thailand is). Add the absence of night lights so you can see the stars, no barking dogs or other disturbing noises in the neighborhood and a fantastic caring family living next and opposite our house, you will understand that I will be glad to get out of the CM jungle (yes I am getting old :) )

I have a few questions:

What is the best hospital in town?

Who is the best in installing and maintaining satellite dishes (both analog and digital)

Where can I get the proof I am still alive, for continuing my pension.

How is the tourist police?

Can I get the three month extension and renewal of my visa in CR?

I will have a lot more to ask, but it will come.

Regards

JMM

Welcome to the 'Rai.

Not sure about the first three questions but the Tourist police are fine. What exactly will you need to see them for?

We run up to MaeSai for visa stuff, about 60kms away. There's a very helpful immigration office there or you can just cross into Myanmar for the standard border run.

WELCOME TO CHIANG RAI

Hospitals in Chiang Rai

The two supposedly best: Sriburin (Opposite Little Duck Hotel) and Overbrook (just before Dusit island Resort) Both these can be on the expensive side. Sriburin has a good Dental clinic

Chiang Rai General Hospital is much cheaper and shares a lot of the same doctors with tha other two. OK if you don't mind queueing!

There are several good people for installing dishes. One at Srisaimun - opposite Cosmo Station is OK

Why do you have to prove that you are still alive? Maybe email the pension office or speak to them on the phone or maybe an affidavit from a lawyer will surfice.

My wife and I both have found that the Overbrook Hospital is great value.

Now ... I recall that you had some other questions but because of the new and brilliantly intelligent TV policy of concealing the OP in any thread from the person attempting to reply, I cannot remember what they were. TiT, I suppose.

What do you mean TV policy of concealing the OP in any thread from the person attempting to reply?

I tried clicking the reply button in the message box, the Fast Reply button and the Add Reply button and could read all the posts in the thread each time? Could it not be Thailand but you this time?
