Work Permit

Dear all,

Just need help with a work permit query. Soon to be moving to Thailand, girlfriend wishes to work from home as we have two small children. Would she be required to apply for a work permit?

really depends on what she is doing. Technically the answer is 'yes', but if she is working on an internet business, writing, or even teaching English from home, then it is unlikely she will even be on the radar.

If however she works for a Thai employer, then she will need a work permit, and it will need to state that her place of work is your house/apartment.

You might want to see if she can get a job at the British Embassy or Council.

That does not need a permit!
