Hi all,

I'm new at this site and I am going to Bangkok next march (2010). I would like to buy a sitar. Does anyone know if and where (and about how much it costs) I can find one in Bangkok??????

Thank you for you reply

I have never seen a Sitar in Thailand. The Thai’s have a instrument called a Kim but it is more like a hammer dulcimer. I would look in the Little India section of town near the Chinatown section of town.

I've asked around, and they're not available for sale here. You might try asking the manager at Bangkok Center Guest House on Ratchadamnoen Nai Rd where he got his (probably India).

You could also ask at Planet Bollywood, a restaurant on Sathorn Soi 1, which is also the location of the Thai-Indian Chamber of Commerce. They might know someone who can order them from India but it would be a lot better to go to Calcutta or Varanasi and pick one out yourself.

Thank you for your answer. Still hoping to find one over there (I only stay 2 weeks - Malaysia - Cambodia - Thailand)
