No, but Abhisit has already lasted much longer than most pundits predicted. Nobody knows the answer until the year is out. It will be interesting to see how well we predict this as a group.

yes with PAD and military backing , if there is an election (big if) he will be gone!

Maybe. However, his popularity has been on the rise, and if the economy recovers somewhat he will be competitive. Of course Abhisit has stated he wants to dissolve parliament and hold elections contingent on cooperation on constitutional issues. That latter part sounds doubtful. Thus the poll question.

Jingthing - he has as much chance of surviving (if we have "MORE" bad news this year) as you have of taking an uneventful Baht bus trip!

So why not just vote YES then? As most of my baht bus trips are completely uneventful.

BTW, PAD has their own party and party leader now, so I am sure you can say PAD is directly supporting Abhisit.

Who was it said 'a week is along time in politics?' The way politics works in LOS 24 hours can be a long time.huh.gif

Popularity can be a dangerous thing for a Thai politician.

There- I've done it now. BTW as the pollmeister, can you see who responds to them?

Judging by the results thus far it seems that a majority of people reckon that PM Abhisit id doing a good job, I certainly do and I wish him much luck.

Well, you don't have to necessarily be a supporter to predict his continued political survival.

I think there is more chance that Thaksin will be PM again before Jan 2011.

Wishful thinking has no relation to reality and the eventual outcome.

Nothing to do with wishful thinking and everything to do with the polls that repeatedly show a massive support for Thaksin outside of Bangkok and the Southern provinces.

Of course expats may not wish this to be the case, especially Brits living in Thailand - It was after all the British Government who so publicly humiliated Thaksin by refusing him permission to re-enter the UK forcing him to go on a global search for somewhere to base himself.

Not something I expect him to forget and not something I expect him to return a compliment on.

One thing with PM Abhisit is more high ranking govt officials than ever have been facing the fire for corruption and mis-deeds

We have not seen a PM this effective in at least getting rid of some of the culprits for many years here if ever

Takki gave the green light for everyone to take as much as they needed

One thing I will never understand, is in case of current health minister getting busted, instead of resigning or getting tossed there is noise from the opposition to give this same guy that scammed all the hospitals another cabinet position in education. How the Thai people continually let this happen with corrupted officials is appalling

PM Abhisit has a solid education in economics, understands the right way to do things, but he is standing in front of a combine harvester called corruption and corrupt politicians

It would be cool if he could stop from getting run over, chewed up and spit out because I think he would get the country back to prosperity

He as a couple million dollars of his own and I think he feels this is good enough for him and he doesnt have to try to make US $20 billion off the people like Takkie

Concerns now are violence and bloodshead in the city

Paralyzing the city and others areas would play hel_l on everyone that Thailand may never recover from

I would advise everyone keep a sharp eye on the news and if violence looks possible get your visa run out of the way early

Can only hope common sense and the people prevail this time

Agreed.....you do have to be careful how you say certain things these days in Thailand! especially in issan.

The vast majority of thais want thaksin back because of his record of giving money easily over to the people farmers and low income familys of rural areas.

What worries me is how he is going about it!!

This whole Cambodia issue politically and economically(Mr Thaksin=advisor???) and also the dispute on the border over who owns the temple Preah Vihear in Surin seems to all be working towards a back door entry for Thaksin in my opinion this year!!

I just hope it is a peaceful return? though some how i really doubt it,i hope the people of Thailand remain carm as certain happenings in the future will put a massive pressure on the country as a whole and the world will be watching! Which Economically would be a disaster for the next few years.

I voted No! as i predict some time in the summer maybe around august september Dr Thaksin(red shirts)will be back......somehow!!

He has the support of the masses and is a very clever political force for the whole SEA region.

I have a dream! Somehow. Your vote duly noted.
