January 3, 201016 yr Stituation: A young child, father/motherhood acknowledged officially at both countries, only thai nationality yet. Mother (thai) saying will change the childs name with out the legal father's (farang) approval. How can one pull this out. Not possible I think? Any good advice much appreciated.
January 3, 201016 yr It is wired but true that in Thailand the Thai national have the legal upper hand. It means they can do anything without the permission of the Farang husband. One of the reason I do not get married over here since I know I will lose more right if I do so I chose to just having religious marriage and not legal marriage ceremony. But keep in mind, it will be very difficult to get a US passport if the child name does not get register fathers/mothers name

January 4, 201016 yr Author the child can get the nationhood without any problems, the mother can stay in EU permanently if she wishes. But guys i am serious. Can she do it with out other legal guardians consent?
January 4, 201016 yr Don't know if she can, but doubt it. Even if she can, changing the name just means that. It hasn't have any relevance to custody of the child, other than that it will be easier to convince the mother has sole custody if someone doesn't check it. And you would also have the right to change the name by yourself. Givenall statements is not based on facts. The Thai judiciary is not biased to foreigners and do take the welfare of the child as their prime concern.
