Hi there,

has anyone ever had any mole removal or plastic surgery of any variety done in thailand? I plan to get a few moles removed whilst I'm in Phuket. cheers

sorry mate, just joking, I am in Bangkok and I hear Asoke Skin Hospital is very good, I have no idea about costs though, I have two i want removing actually, just small ones but under the skin so they can not be burnt off, I really should go and get a price sometime. I had one removed in the UK and it was quite a simple procedure, local anaesthetic, it was then sent to pathology for testing. I would imagine here if you are not too worried about getting it tested you will save money on lab charges and just pay for the actual procedure

A guy posted here a while back about having his moles zapped by a CO2 laser at "Dr Secret" in Pattaya. Cheap and painless, he said. So I decided on my last trip, as well as making my usual visit to the dentist, I would look into getting my own moles zapped. (The thought of dealing with more beautiful Thai chicks in white uniforms was a major factor).

I went to "Medical Beauty Clinic", level 4 of Central Festival, simply because it was closest to my hotel.

I volunteered a prominent mole on my upper right arm as a try-out of their service.

My Laser Gurrl spread white cream on the mole. "Make no pain," she said. Then she nuked my arm.

IT HURT LIKE hel_l! She may as well have rammed a red hot wire deep into my arm. I screeched like a five year old girl.

The only good thing was that the stench of burning flesh and the agony lasted just five minutes.

Cost was 1110 baht.

The other guy related how, at the clinic he went to, the procedure was explained to him by his doctor and they took his BP and asked about allergies. None of this happened to me.

The other guy also said for him it was painless and his wounds healed in a couple of days. Not my experience. It hurt like hel_l and the wound took two weeks to heal up. I suspect Laser Gurrl was too light on the anaesthesia and too heavy on the laser.

If you're into S&M and love being tortured by gorgeous Thai chicks in nurse uniform, Medical Beauty Clinic will be your idea of heaven. For normal folks - might be an idea to go elsewhere. I'd recommend going to a major hospital. It will cost twice as much but the chicks there actually have training to go with their white uniforms.

A friend of mine works in a skin clinic in Central Pinklao, she lasered a small mole off my chin that I've had for 15 years. It didn't hurt, (smelled bad however), and only cost me 300 Baht.

Sorry, it's not close to Phuket, but Bangkok has millions of skin clinics.

Go to Romrawin Clinic or Apex profound beauty clinic in Jungceylon.

They can help you.

I have removed birthmarks with CO2 laser in Bangkok and it worked well.

It depends on what kind of mole it is and if it stands out from the surface or not.

Go to Jungceylon and ask. It might be a bit pricy but at least you will get to talk to someone who knows.

I think the consultation at Romrawin is free, for apex i dont know.

Bangkok hospital phuket also has laser to remove birthmarks and moles.

Take care,

Ps. both Romrawin and Apex have websites in english. Just google and you will find them. /ds.

I live in Phuket and regret that I can't recommend anywhere here because the costs are so high. But I have had a lot of success with having a wart and several moles removed at Bumrungrad and more especially, at Chiang Mai Ram hospital in CM. CM Ram was the most efficient and the least expensive, charged 600 baht to remove a wart that a hospital in Phuket wanted to charge 5,000! Also, Bumrungrad Skin Clinic, whilst very efficient and nice, is quite expensive these days.

There should be at least a 45 minute wait from application of cream from what my doctors say - I just have them use needle as does not hurt that much (and don't have to wait) and have had seriously deep removals of growths removed with very little pain (needle prink type feeling). The vacuum should remove the burn smell. Should be two or three working on you.

I've had skin removed with liquid nitrogen. No pain, just a frosty feeling on the little jobs. The bigger jobs felt like a pinpoint burn. Something like when you see if a magnifying glass can really heat up skin. Done in 3 seconds/site. Don't know the cost. Had it done at a VA hospital in the US. OC

I have had some moles removed by Dr. Nat at Apex...the cost was half of BangkokPattaya Hospital and she is a very good dermatologist. If you are going to Apex in Phuket make sure you wait for Dr. Natapat. She is probably there about once a month only

I have used the same clinic for about 6 years for removing warts. It is in MBK second floor. The cost is always the same-500 baht. There are two doctors who rotate. They speak excellent English but they don't like to take looky-loo farangs who waste their time. The receptionists don't speak English and are instructed to deflect farangs, but if you speak Thai or come with a Thai friend they will take you as a patient and then on repeated visits you just show your patient ID card and you get in to see the doctor. The doctors were educated in the US and are very professional. They inject a small amount of pain killer into the area and use a laser to remove the wart.

I have had that used and results were totally unpredictable. They have to guess as it is not a layer by layer burn. The resulting mess takes forever to heal and looks like an alien monster patch with huge scabs.

There are many clinics if you want to do it in Bangkok.

Yanhee hospital is good too in Bangkok, not as expensive like other hospitals (bumrungrad and samitivej and bangkok hospital) but not as fancy.

I removed one birthmark there with CO2-laser. They first give you emla-cream to make the area numb and then the laser feels like small needle sticks.

You get antibiotic cream to help heal the wound after and you shall apply it morning and evening for 1 week.

It is also important to not be in the sun after you have a mole removed and to use sunscreen to protect the area.

There are many creams you can buy to help the wound heal and fade quicker after the crust have fallen off.

No matter where you go, check with you doctor if and when it is ok to use them.

Good luck,

take care

Other creams are:

Essentialscar or Scaressential, from Watsons 490baht (expensive but american imported and works on old and new scars)

No mark , Thai brand, more herbal healing, dont remember the price

There are of course loads of whiteningcreams but i am not sure they are good for scarhealing.

Most of the scarhealing creams seem to contain "allium cepa", some sort of onion extract and it seems to work well.

It also depend on what skintype you have. Some skintypes scars more easily than others. It has to do with how much active pigment you have in the skin.

Here are some Skin Clinics in Pattaya, if anyone has mole removal experience with any of them please let us know, price ,quality etc.

La Nitivadee Skin Clinic (Near Soi 11 and Beach road)

Aesthetica 382/1-2 Moo 9, Pattaya 2nd Road (Opposit Bangkok Bank, near soi 4),

Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (likely the most expensive)

Pattaya International (Second road)

I went to Aesthetica (sp?) on second road, had a few Moles zapped by laser. Excellent service there, and it was very quiet and staff was great. I would recommend going in the low season, as I think they gave me a very reasonable price to encourage the business. Virtually painless with a small sting with the injections. (I think the cream is used only for small superficial freckles, spots etc.)

Believe you have choice of cream or injection. The cream requires at least a 45 minute delay so if not adverse to normal needle (for one or a few) I would have the injection. When I had 200 removals done from back I did have cream but near the end they were starting to wear off as total time on table was close to two hours.

sorry mate, just joking, I am in Bangkok and I hear Asoke Skin Hospital is very good, I have no idea about costs though,

I went there for a consultation Sunday, June 12, 2011, about removal of some prominent and unsightly moles from my scalp. I was quoted 800 baht just for the consultation (200 baht for hospital fee and 600 baht for registering), although I ended up paying only the 200 baht hospital fee for some reason. (I took the lift to the carpark level and slipped out that way in case I was stopped while passing reception to cough up the other 600 baht!) Still, not a good first impression being told to pay 800 baht for what would be a 5-10 min consultation. Maybe this is a standard fee and I'm complaining about nothing, though.

When I saw the dermatologist, he immediately recommended their CO2 laser. I queried this, since these moles also contain hair follicles I obviously wouldn't want burned away to leave little bald spots all over the scalp. This made me conclude they were interested only in recommending their most expensive treatments, not the most suitable ones for me. (I didn't ask the cost of the laser treatment, though, so maybe I'm wrong there.) Anyway, I just said I preferred the moles cut out and he said I should see their plastic surgeon. He wasn't in, but his nurse had a price list.

For the actual mole removal procedure, I was quoted 10,000 baht per mole for surgical removal, with each mole taking 30 minutes. This is much too expensive in my opinion. I had a mole removed back in my home country for about half that, although that was 10 years ago. However, the good news seems to be this is a procedure that any plastic surgeon could and would perform, rather than "skin specialists" at an overpriced private hospital. I'm interested in other people's experience of having moles removed surgically from the scalp and related costs in Bangkok.

Not Thailand but Australia, but worth a thought.

I have a small mole on my neck and went to the doctors surgery only have the doctor say

"You prefer to have a mole or a scar"? "Nothing wrong with your mole, it's not cancerous but I can remove it for you". huh.png

Actually there should be very little if any scar (I have none from laser removals and only slight from wide margin surgery but have not been moles) and a mole is always potently a site for cancer at some point. If you are young and no change noticed perhaps not a major factor for removal but as Oz has a high rate of skin cancer perhaps not the best example. Was payment going to be by you or government? That can also be a factor for some decisions.

Australia has one of the highest incidences of skin cancer in the world, at nearly four times the rates in Canada, the US and the UK.

By me and was like 7 years ago so I am sure they have better tech stuff now. Like you said laser, but was not mentioned to me at that time. Fee was gonna be about $400 aussie was not the issue the scar was , thinking about people asking me if I had a tracheotomy etc. so decided not to do it. But if it was on my face I think it would have been done along time ago.
