Stopover Flight

Featured Replies

Hi there,

what would be the best carrier choice to stopover from the UK to BKK to Perth ?

I have found some good deals with Singapore but obviously via Singapore.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

If you are looking to do this trip on one carrier your only option would be Thai Airways.

My experience is that it's best to book the legs separately. Even if you book multi-stopovers with the same airline, the ticket comes out more expensive than booking separately with the very same airline. Check it out for yourself. It saved me AUD600 last year in June and $200 for this February. Stopovers used to be free of charge, but airlines got wind of it and have been trying to cash in on it for the past 1-2 years. Emirates, for instances, tried to charge me over $100 for every stopover of my journey.

An example:

Last year in June, I checked their prices (Emirates) for SYD-BKK-MUC-BKK-SYD with stopovers in BKK (a week each stopover). Their booking engine (using their multi-stopover functionality) came up with something like $2900. Tried again, now booking separately through their web site again, the flights came out at $2700!!!! Ultimately, I ended up booking BA for SYD-BKK-SYD and Emirates for BKK-MUC-BKK. Total cost $2300. Quite a saving!
