Tutor In Ubon Ratchathani

Hello everyone,

I am a resident of Ubon Ratchathani who is looking for a good English tutor. I was wondering if anyone on this board provides that service or knows someone who does? I have tried some outside English classes suggested by my University but they were for beginners and I am looking for something a bit more challenging. Please help me, I want to improve as much as I can!

Thanks,

Jen ^^

I can't help you with your question but the writing in your post was very good English, better in fact than a lot of the native English speakers on this forum who can barely write English at all! :)

Aloha Jenny

What kind of help are you looking for in English? Conversational English, translation, or something else. Are you studying for the TOFEL?

I am retired from the University of Hawaii, living now in Ubon. I have some time, but not much, to assist students. I also write stories and books, however I am not big on "structured" learning, learning using games, puzzles, pictures -- that I find boring. It is usually elementary also.

Conversational English can help in all forms of English Study. Your writing is good, so I think all you need is some one to talk to on a regular basis to practice your English.

If you wish, you can contact me, Ted, at : << Use PM >>

I might be able to help you with tutoring. I currently work at one of the universities here in Ubon. I also work at one of the private schools here. I have several people I am currently tutoring in conversational English. I can gear the level of the course to fit your needs. I can provide you with references on the quality of my teaching.

Thanks Svenn,

It took me a long time to write that post! My English needs improvement, especially my spoken English as I do not know many people who I can practise with. Thanks for the suggestions everyone I did not think of the Assumption college. I will private email both of you tutors, thanks for reply!

Jen,

You might try Miss Ooh at English Center in Ubon. The shop is located on Rajabut Rd just south (towards) the river from Khuan Thani Rd. The shop is on the left hand side. She teaches English to Thais and Thai to foreigners. It might be worth your time to go by and have a chat with her.

Hi Jen

Hope you are well. I would like to help you if I can.

I have been volunteering at a large middle school in Phosai (100km east of Ubon) for 6 weeks now, teaching children from 7 - 18 years old, and the teachers.

My teaching has focused on games, activities and songs to encourage the students to speak. I want them to speak more than anything.

Sometimes I use reading activities, but I rarely focus on writing as there are plenty of teachers who can do this.

I have specialised lately in pronunciation, in particular the items that Thai people find the most difficult e.g. 3, 5, 8, 12 etc, word endings such as -st, -ed etc

I can teach any aspect you wish.

I come to Ubon every weekend, and if this would work for you we can meet as soon as this weekend. Maybe can start with meeting for a coffee to see if you ae intersted in studying with me.

Anyway, please find attached my resume.

I may be moving to Ubon in a few weeks if I can find a more permanent position.

I would charge a reasonable rate since I don't have as much experience as some other people, but I am a hardworking and patient teacher.

Kind regards

James

Hi Jen,

Hope you have found a good tutor following the number of replies. If, however, you haven't found anyone suitable yet, please let me know. I am a English teacher starting at a school in Ubon this coming term. I will also hopefully be teaching at some langauge schools in the nearby areas. Please feel free to PM me. I teach intermidate to advanced English. Thanks.

James.
