You must obtain prior to travel. You can not do on arrival. Without you may not be allowed on the aircraft if no onward ticket within 30 days.

Visa on arrival does not apply to UK nationals. If arriving by air, you get a visa waiver stamp valid for 30 days and its always free. But as noted above, you need an onward or return ticket or your airline can refuse to board you. 60 day tourist visa must be obtained in advance from a consulate in the UK and they are free of charge from 1 April.

The free visas end tomorrow, March 4th 2010.

The new Free visas starts April 1st.

So if you apply before April 1st you will have to pay.

Hello,

I need some help about visa on arrival. We came from Hungary and got 15 days visa on arrival at the airport. Before this expired, we went to Malaysia to request a 2+1 month tourist visa. 2 month will be expiry soon, so we are plan to get 30 days extension in Koh Samui. Can anyone tell us that this is the good procedure? At the same time we are planning to stay more than 1 month, and we dont know if we can go back to Malaysia and request another 2+1 months tourist visa. Does anyone know if this is working? can we get another 3 month tourist visa? Thanks for the information in advance.

Yes, you can extend a 60 day tourist visa with 30 more days for 1,900 baht and will also need to bring a passport photo.

You migth or not migth get a new toruist visa, with Malaysia it is sometimes hard to tell. With an extension Penang will probably not issue. Might be better to go all the way to Vientanne, Laos where you even might get a double entry tourist visa.
