He says, "Son, can you play me a memory

I'm not really sure how it goes

But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete

When I wore a younger man's clothes."

I think the title is The Piano Man...at least that's the oft-repeated phrase in the chorus...don't know who sings it.

Johnny was a school boy

when he heard his first beatle's song

Hmmmm...... I have something at the back of my mind trying to claw it's way to the front.....it might come to me in the middle of the night.

Billy Joel is the most famous, no idea on Patsy's so your turn, or I will have another go :)

Billy Joel! Of course. You should see me kicking myself right now.

I won't go untill Patsy's has been guessed or timed out.

"Take my word, we would treasure each day that occurred"

Billy Joel had a song about the world twisting and burning...very unlike his other music...

we were in a quiz with others in Jakarta and I claimed that it was somebody else's song...we lost the quiz on that mistake... :)

Here are some phrases from some popular 'oldies' from the 1960's. Each phrase is a different song.

- without letter B

- in a gunny sack

- one kiss will prove it

- hardly maintain

Incidentally, Jimi Hendrix's 'Purple Haze' has the line 'excuse me, while I kiss the sky' - ....many people think it's actually 'excuse me while I kiss this guy' ....but Jimi only added the latter words when he realized, later, that it was funnier that way.

Similarly, Manfred Mann's great hit song "Do Wa Diddy Diddy" (I saw them perform it live in a small London club when they were just starting out). The words are "I'm her's, she's mine" whereas many listeners think it's "I'm hurt, she's mine."

Also, you may know this, but: Bob Marley's famous song, "No Woman, No Cry" is the singer telling his woman not to cry. It's not saying, 'if you don't have a woman, you don't need to cry." It's the Jamaican way of telling someone not to cry. I had a Jamaican g.f. who used to tell her weeping baby, 'no baby, no cry.'

The new groups are not concerned

With what there is to be learned

They got Burton suits, ha, you think it's funny

Turning rebellion into money

All over people changing their votes

Along with their overcoats

If Adolf Hitler flew in today

They'd send a limousine anyway

I didn't know that. Bob is a fave of mine and I always had a feeling that he didn't mean what I interpreted....it just didn't fit with the rest of the song.

Good to know.

A Jamaican GF...cool :). Love that accent in the women.
