Official Vehicle Identification

Featured Replies

Whenever I have bought, or, sold a second-hand vehicle, I usually go to the Transport Office and have the vehicle inspected there. It's very busy and you can be there a long time.

I have just found out (I'm a bit slow) that there is a place in Rawai that does this for you.

I'm registering a colour change in a log-book. They will do the ID and go to the main office in town to get the log-book done.

There was a place in Patong also, when you come over the hill from Kathu and drive down towards the beach it was on the left hand side about

100 metres before rat tu tit road.

This place is on the west side of Viset Road. There is a small soi opposite the row of shops that Siam Real Estate are in. There is a small photo-copy service office at the front of the soi. Twenty metres down the soi is where this ID office is.

Is this a private service that does this, or is it a branch office of the Transport office? Thanks for the heads up BTW.

The one in patong was a private service which you paid for, if you know where the place is better to go by yourself then there is no hidden commissions.

A private service, there are no government workers there. I guess the place is recognized by the Transport office for ID purposes.

Yes, I use that place too although I always take my wife with me as they do not speak much English there at all.

I mainly use it for my motorbike and still go to Phuket town for the truck.

the garages or workshops with a blue and yellow sign of a sprocket(or something like that), is approved to check vehicles including identity. usually they can also complete the transfer

The patong one tried to rip me off for 3k.. Then when I wouldnt pay it ripped up my papers with the sellers sig on them, very hard for me to get the sellers sig again..

Also any of these places need to take the vehicle to be inspected in phuket town anyway, for name changes, ownership changes, engine changes and color changes.. I would rather not have my vehicles driven by other people..

For big bike users everyone knows Phukets DMV's is one of the worst in the country.. If anyone gets a blocked transfer I have cultivated an expensive relationship with one of the guys in the test side, they can get the page 18 tax info and other hiccups smoothed over but non cheap..
