Hi,

I am gonna build house and a garage on my land,Someone told me that I have to file request at the municipality office before starting to build. One mechanic at municipality office quoted me 50 Baht/tarangwa (surely too much) which is equal to 8000 baht in my case.I think it's outrageous.Usually how much is the request fee for building something?

I do not know what the fee is, but be aware that in the usual falang areas they will not approve your request unless they made the plans for your house in their side business as architects. And for that you pay more than that. May be 2 % may be 3 % of the total costs to build your house. It depends on where you are building.

If you have plans already, just bring them. they will copy them, and the act of copying them changes them from "too bad to approve" to "approved.

You need this approval to get the blue book (not you, but the real land owner of course), which then lets you get electricity, telephone etc. If there is or was a house already, the book might exist already, and you could just build, without asking anyone.

Well, AFAIK :o

IT is not a building "request", it is a building permit. 8000 baht is outrageous? :o
