Hello all,

I have just arrived to Bangkok, Thailand. I am currently taking a break from work to focus on self-studying and obtaining an accounting certification and would love to find a part-time job teaching English to make some extra funds. I am willing to relocate at my cost and prefer a place where the air is clean near the coast.

Allow me to introduce myself:

I am a 27 year old American accounting college graduate. I have 5 years accounting work experience (including 3 years in Shanghai, China). During my 4 year stay in China, I have also taught Business English/Communications for 2 years. I have taught college students and working professionals. I can provide references and phone numbers. I plan on staying in Thailand for 6 months.

If anyone has any leads or could give any guidance, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Dan

All aliens engaged in any kind of work in Thailand must hold a valid work permit, issued principally by the Department of Employment of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare pursuant to the Alien Employment Act B.E. 2521 (A.D. 1978).

The term "work" is defined very broadly, covering both physical and mental activities, whether or not for wages or other remuneration. Working without a valid work permit even for a day is a criminal offense.

Let's not promote criminal activities here on Thaivisa please.

Get yourself down to the beach and apply in person! Thailand isn't short of Ingrish teachers. Usually there are private Chinese schools around. If you speak Chinese, I'm sure you will have an advantage. 6 months isn't a very long time, you might want to keep that quiet. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your reply. I've concluded that I will be based in Bangkok. The pollution is not as bad as Shanghai :).

Regarding Chinese schools, that is very interesting. I do speak fluent Chinese, so if that gives me an edge I am all about it. If you have any recommendations of schools to check out let me know.

Best!

Then get out there and start jabbering in Chinese/// face to face! you will probably get a job on the spot...

Try some of the language centers (thousands i bet in BK) that teach english and/or chinese to Thai's they will probably take you for a short contract.

dont bother with writing stuff... turn up at the door. good luck over and out.
