Breaker kicks at 0:22.

Keep in mind sound travels at 343 meters per second. I felt like I was in a war zone fro 20 minutes.I felt like I was in a war zone.

It seems this must be the first tropical thunderstorm you have seen.

I'm sorry if my clip was boring to you. I've been in Thailand on and off since 2001 and spent a lot of time in Florida, and the mountains of California and only 2 or 3 other times have I experienced lightning and thunder this close and this loud and continuous. The video doesn't really do it justice. Never had it trip the house breaker before. Is that common? I was thinking it probably struck a power pole nearby. Thankfully no damage to electronics in the house.

The house breaker tripping or a pole fuse blowing are pretty common events during these storms. Make sure you've got a surge protection device on your computer for the power spikes.

Since I posted this I have learned of 2 people in the area that had electronics in their house fried from this specific strike. One of them actually had the current travel through his phone line and fry his modem and computer. I am really glad my landlord installed a new breaker box a few months ago which has a master sensitivity dial. I have it on max sensitivity and I am thinking that might have saved me.

Great video!

Nothing can really stop lightning.

I wrote a lenthy post (in another thread, also about lightning), that might be interesting to people reading this one.
