Pattaya’s Recently Re-laid Thappraya Road Collapses

PATTAYA:-- the 23rd of April 2010 [PDN]: Several parts of the new road, which took contractors nearly 2 years to compete, have collapsed or are showing worrying signs of wear. Thappraya Road is a main artery of Pattaya, responsible for connecting South Pattaya to Jomtien with adjoining roads to the heavily populated Pratamnak Hill area.

Ahhhh... Wasn't that a 3 year project to go 2kms or so? My guess is that it was done crappily in order to secure contract after contract after contract. Somebody is making a lot of money from these contracts.

Edit: Fixed grammar.

Most residents of Jomtien could not have failed to be impressed by the substantial time and effort devoted to the reconstruction of Thappraya rd.

Had a snap poll been taken mid-construction few people would have expected a masterpiece of civil engineering. So one must give credit where credit is due,the road did last two weeks of fairly intense traffic, and there seem only to be a few areas of collapse.

The obvious solution is to dig it all up,and start all over again.

John Mcadam{1756-1836},where are you?

No need for John Mcadam I already see a fully qualified engineer taking an interest in this thread, maybe this will be his next project. :)
