deftones

i wouldnt of thought that anyone in bedlam would have known who deftones were.

why not? :D

I've been listening to the new album but I much prefer their older tracks...

Sex on fire is a mint song but unfortunately it's been overplayed here in the UK and I prefer their first 2 albums cos they're a bit more 'raw' :D

I'm so jealous of you guys that got to see all these cool bands in the 80s, I get the impression it's not quite the same when you see them as much older people... or not?? I know Patti Smith was obviously a lot older when I saw her a few years ago but she still had amazing presence.

and Joy Division :)

tell me is xfm still going?

used to be a good station until crapital radio got their grubby little hands on it.

and is jo whiley still milking it on radio 1? zane lowe is about the only one i have any respect for these days.

bring back the good old days of mark(mark radcliffe) and lard( marc"lardyboy" riley)

interpol arent a bad modern day substitute for joy division!

1980 in Germany, saw Dire Straights first time i'd seen the ciggy lighter trick from many thousands of German folk during Romeo and Juliet, very moving.

I saw them in Edinburgh the same year. Was that the year that the lighter fad started!! I was in the front row and Mark Knopfler winked at me.

Suppose we couldn't do that now, ealf and safutty etc.

Sorry - :)

I think we're still safe with winking.............

Yep, XFM is still going. At least it is on DAB, I don't listen to radio much, just at work. Don't really like radio 1 to be honest too much chat :D There is however a station called Absolute 80s which only plays 80s tunes but too many ads :)

Mark Knopfler is coming here this summer to the Montreux Festival. The tickets are like 150 engerlishers, put train fares and hotel tarifs on that and you are talking a large amount of money.

Must do the lottery....

And win.

Would love to see David Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Cure,

Saw him on the Glass Spider Tour. Bladdy marvellous

'Lets Dance', tour Milton keynes Bowl.

U2 at the same venue, REM were support before they became iconic, Dire Straights too if I remember right, it rained all day.

One week later saw them again at Croke Park, brilliant sunshine, typical.

I had forgotten the Lets Dance Bowie tour. I saw him at Murryfield. I still have the ticket. Shall see if my wicked machine shall scan it!!!

His support band was the Thomson Twins.

Jeez, that must have been 25 years ago!!! When concert tickets cost at the most 10 ssquid.

Would love to see The Cure,

And went to see them on many occasions during the early 80's. Also in the same era went to see, Japan, Bauhuas, Kid Creole and his coconuts :D , Thomson Twins, Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds, Echo and the Bunny Men, Teardrop Explodes. The list is endless. Aaaah, those were the days.

Glass Spider tour, it seems we have a lot more in common besides supporting the best team in Manchester :)

Simple minds came here to a really small concert place.

My friends and moi had a ball.

Where i live moi is me,

She certainly knows some bad English words, particularly when she's driving. I have no idea where she learnt such language. :)

You can broaden your mind here.

coming from that part of the world mr bj were you into the madchester scene?

cant stand the footie teams from manchester :) , me being a southern softie and a gooner to boot :D , but have to take my hat off to some of the music thats come out of the area over the years.

groups like joy division(later to be new order) the smiths and m.e.smiths the fall.

and later on the stone roses, happy mondays, the charlatans, inspiral carpets and 808 state.

aah the hacienda and manchester g-mex arena, those were the days!

plus probably one of the best gigs i ever went to at spike island to see the stone roses.

What about the earlier Manchester scene ?

Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas

Herman's Hermits

Freddy & he Dreamers

The Hollies

Georgie Fame & the Blue Flames

John Mayall & the Blues-breakers

Wayne Fontana & the Mind-Benders

Davy Jones

The Magic Lantern

etc

Feel free to You-tube them....... :D

And the Bee Gees were from Manchester, Salford to be precise.

I like this lass

Katie Melua

"Nine Millon Bicycles"

She must have some serious gravel rash. :)

Meadish, you've had me fooled for a few years now. I actually thought you were normal but after watching this clip you right up there with the rest of us, maybe a little further up than most. :)

Hip Hop up to about 10 years ago, Drum and Bass, Punk, Funk and Soul

Can't stand C and W or Jazz.

"Nine Millon Bicycles"

How does she know ?

Who told her ?

Important questions going to the credibility of the artist. At least there WAS a Yellow Submarine........... ( and I've seen "The Purple Haze "...Chang helped with that one )

Daman Albarn is an unsung hero in the world of modern music. My word is he talented.

"Reasons to Be Cheerful"

My personal blockheads favourite:

Not working.

Here's the link
