June 3, 201015 yr I was found under a bush( well I suppose we all came from under a bush ......................I'll get my coat ) And don't forget your hat lad CB
June 5, 201015 yr Ehh, lad, you don't know what hard living is.I remember when I was young, being 11 or younger, having to wear shorts all year round, walking six miles to school and in the winter have legs that were red and bleeding from the edge of my trousers rubbing my raw legs. I also remember being bombed out when I was 4 (1941) and living in temporary accommodation for the next few years, changing every six monthe or so. I remember the thousand bomber raids assembling in the skies overhead - wall-to-wall bombers covering the entire sky. Doodle-bugs - woke up one morning and heard a car labouring up the hill outside the house we were then living in - then the engine cut and I realised it was a buzz-bomb. Frozen in place, wondering if it was going to hit us. Luckily it fell a few streets away. Ice cream - ate it once during the war - in hospital after I'd had my tonsils out. In the playground there were gas-attack detectors - sheets of metal painted yellow, that were supposed to turn another colour if the Germans dropped gas on us. On posts about 3-4 feet off the ground - just right for a boy of seven to run into during a game of tag. I still have the scar over my forehead. "Nurse, can you escort Mr Bear back to his room? He's rambling again and I think he may have had a little "accident" in his pajamas"
June 6, 201015 yr Nah, that's me mum. Heading for 101 years and still surviving. But she does pen-and-ink a bit most days.

June 6, 201015 yr 'Cos she's nearly 101, or 'cos she smells all the time? Literally gets up my sister's nose, but I'm across the world, so avoid most of it. This year I'll be back in Blighty for a few weeks at her birthday, my new daughter will be two years old the day after my mum's 101. So they'll have a lot to talk about. And be the only two who understand what they're saying.
June 6, 201015 yr My mum is 80. We are worried she is going to outlive her kids. Who are me, brother 54 and sister 56. Good on your mum to have reached 101!!! Did she get a telegram from the Queen? Or is it an e-mail message nowadays?

That is true, HB. I was only quoting an old parable written by some old angler who was basing his comment on angling not being a stressful occupation. And where stress kills more people than many other maladies combined. Very few things in life are free. We pay for them in one way or another. That goes for relationships, work and pleasure.
