Undeleting Pictures/digital Camera Expert ?

Recommended Posts

I've deleted my pictures through the process of formatting, which was of course a very stupid thing to do.

Now, are there photo shop people in Chiang Mai who really know something about their trade and who could possibly fix this for me ?

Secondly, I'm also facing technical difficulties with my camera. Where can I find an "expert' regarding digital cameras ?

This happened to a friend of mine on a Canon camera and they were told not to take any more shots on that smart card but take it sraight to the digital camera shop. She did, and they managed to retrieve all of the deleted shots.

Perhaps others can come up with other recommedations, but I have always used the camera shop on the left hand side of Thanon Ratwithi, going towards the Three Kings Monunent away from the Klong. Once you pass the U.N. Irish Pub on your right - the shop will be on your left. Sorry - can't recall the name.

This is fairly easy to do. Remove the card immediately. Slide the write-protection lock to on, if your card has one.

Then download this Windows tool:

Plug your card into your computer. If you don't have one, just buy one of the all-in-one 100-baht USB card readers from Pantip.

Anything that is salvageable, you will be able to see and recover with this tool.

I do this ALL the time with amazing results :)

Mestzo's advice is spot on. All your pictures should be recoverable if you don't use the card until it's been run through an un-format routine. If you don't have access to a computer and want a shop to do it then I'd suggest Photo Bug or Digital Photo Shop, both on the third floor of Airport Plaza.

If you're just having problems with some of the operating features of a camera you may find it helpful to come to a Chiang Mai Photographic Group meeting where you'll almost certainly find some useful advice. They are held every alternate Wednesday (June 9th is the next one) at Tuskers Bar and you can find details here. If your camera is faulty in some way then ask at Photo Bug.
