depends on what grade you are looking for.

You can get Pharmaceutical/laboratory grade on Suthep Road at a little supply store. its the one near the hospital on Suthep and Sirimangkhlachan Rd intersection. The shop is on the other side of the south side of Suthep and has a lot of glass ware for chemistry.

If your after Borax with more impurities for pest control, agriculture, cleaning etc. There is another shop on the same side of Suthep road but another few hundred meters toward the university. This shop has a lot a bags of chemicals.

Depending on how much you need, your local manufacturing jeweler will have it as they still use it as flux. Failing that, the chemical supply shop on Suthep rd. opposite the faculty of medicine.

Is that the north side then? Serious question, need to get hold of some potassium permanganate, they may have some.

It's also used to treat (preserve) bamboo to make it last a lot longer. I would imagine that's different grade/quantities again.

shop is on the south side of Suthep. Airport side.

If they don't have it they can usually order it and get it delivered from BKK in a few days.

They can get laboratory grade H202 (Hydrogen Peroxide) by order also.

Anyone know the Thai name for it (Borax) ?

They know it as Borax which is technically Sodium Tetraborate. The medical and chemical industries use the ISO designations. ISO is International Standards Organization.

there's also a store selling chemicals on the superhighway coming from the airport going towards the nawaraat bridge on the left.....

Last time I was there, they did have potassium permanganate.
