Government Hospital For Cataract Surgery

Featured Replies

I had cataract surgery about 5 years ago at Rutnin hospital in Bangkok and was happy with the result. I live in the U.S. now (at least for the immediate future) but my thai brother in law has what is probably a cataract in one of his eyes. He lives in Lampang and saw a doctor there. He doesn't have the money to pay a private hospital like Rutnin 40,000-50,000 baht to do the surgery but obviously doesn't want to go blind in that eye, as did several thais in the Issan region did at a government hospital (through nfection, I believe). Can anyone recommend an eye doctor and/or a hospital (probably government hospital), so he can make an appointment and find out whats wrong with his eye and, if its a cataract, how much will the susrgery cost?

Try doing a search for hospitals in Chiang Mai on Thai Visa it is not far from Lampang and I have seen the information you are after in previous topics.

I did spend an hour last night doing searches, before posting here. I did come up with St. Peter's eye hospital and told my wife to recommend to her brother in law to go there for at least a consulation. Maybe a doctor that works there also works at a government hospital. If that fails, I did recommend two government hospitals in C.M. that were recommended on TV but I have no idea if those hospitals offer cataract surgery and, if they do, the sucess rate. Thanks anyway.

. My wife say's My link this is the best government hospital in CM.
