GPRS Modem - Recommendation Needed

Featured Replies

I am looking for a GPRS modem which works best with W7

What I am looking for is a modem which can receive/send sms while connected to the internet.

What do you recommend? Please state price as well (if known)- Brand must be availabe in Thailand

Thx

Most any phone with a bluetooth and or USB connection port will do it. I've been using Nokias and the Nokia Suite software for years now doing exactly what you want. My Nokia 5800 was about 9500 Baht. But you do not have to spend that much, a 4000 Baht Nokia or what ever will do it as well.

You have 2 options you can go with a Nokia phone either Bluetooth paired or USB cabled connected to Nokia PC suite or the new updated PC Suite OVi, but the best option is to go with a Cat or Hutch CDMA USB dongle you will get faster GPRS or CDMA but it also has sim card in it which cannot make calls but can make/receive SMS messages

Maybe I wasn't clear in OP. Sorry for that.

I am not looking for a phone. I have a EDGE modem connected to one of my PC ports. SIM card inside. Here I send and receive sms.

In case of emergency I connect via GPRS to the internet.

While connected I can't send/receive sms

Does the Hutch/CAT CDMA service for internet use the same masts as the AIS/GPRS internet service which I use now as I would like a faster service then 480K

I imagine most modern USB 3G modems have this ability. I use a ZTE MF626 and can send and receive SMS whilst online.
