How much the price per trip from Garden Beach Resort to PAttaya Center?

HoOw long does it take?

And the distance.

Thanks

Where is the Garden Beach resort located (what soi # ?)

If you flag down a baht bus on Beach Road (for example) and jump in (without telling the driver any location), the fare is supposed to be 5 baht, whether you go 1 block or 15. Foreigners are often expected to pay 10 baht though.

If you tell the driver where you want to go, you are effectively "hiring" that vehicle. You should negotiate the price before getting in.

If you hire a baht bus, you should be able to go pretty much anywhere in Pattaya for 100 baht. Trips to Naklua or Jomtien may be a little more, depending on your negotiation skills.

OK, I just checked the location of your hotel on the map. You are very close to Beach Road.

Walk up to Beach road, flag down a baht bus and jump in. When you get close to where you want to be, press one of the buzzers on the roof. Get out and pay the driver (like I mentioned before, it's supposed to be 5 baht per person, but they try and get foreigners to pay 10 baht per person).

The way back is a little harder. You'll have to catch a bus on Pattaya 2nd road, and go to the Dolphin round-a-bout. Some bus's turn off there and go a different direction. You'll probably have to get out, walk towards Beach road and catch another bus (no transfers, so you'll have to pay the fare again). Watch and when you get close to your Moo, press the buzzer, pay the driver, ect, ect.

The baht bus's go down Beach Road pretty much continuously, shouldn't have to wait more than a minute or two to flag one down.

Try to flag one that already has people in it.

For shorter rides, especially if you don't cross a major road (for example Pattaya Tai to Big C would cross Pattaya Klang) 5 baht is almost always going to be OK to pay, farang or not.

Let's all stop playing the patsy and giving in to racism against white people in Thailand.

[On the map yeah it really looks like very near Beach Road and I hope so.

I'm afraid that is far from north pattaya and the bath bus will be hard to catch.

5baht, 10 baht who cares really?

You are talking chump change.

It is a tough way to make a living and I am sure if you had a proper bus service operating you would end up paying more than 10 baht a trip.

Is there any restaurants outside and near Garden Beach Resort?

I

Isabellla there are many restaurants along Naklua Road.....One in particular which I would recommend is called Bei Gerhard.

It is located in a small soi opposite the Woodlands resort hotel.

This very clean German restaurant offers excellent European and Thai food at very reasonable prices. :o

Yep plenty of nice Teutonic restaurants. One large tall German Chappy married to a Thai lady seems to own at least two where his rather attracive thai/german daughter works. :o

ps the Garden Resort has a very salty pool as compared with the green park which i dont like and many Thai Guests as apposed to falang guests which i like . Very nice hotel and quite. THe restaurant at the hotel is good certainly better than most soulless hotel restaurants. I would marginally prefer the Green Park noverall though cause of the pool.

....The cherry crepe is absolutely delicious yum! yum! :D

....Did I say that? :D

Agreed, 5 baht is not a lot.

However, it is not at all uncommon to need to take two or three rides to get where you are going, so that makes a local 15 baht ride a 30 baht ride for those with white faces.

I am actually not talking about 5 baht.

It is pervasive racism.

See a white face, double the price.

Simply wrong in any culture.

If someone is a farang with an Asian face, local price.

Racism pure and simple and it should be resisted as much as possible (without risking your life).

Sooner or later, the local fare will be raised due to fuel increases. If the local price goes to 10 baht it will be interesting to see what happens next in the world of baht bus racism.

BTW, to people who say this doesn't matter, how do you feel about farang people trying to get change from bb drivers and the drivers driving off with the arms still in the windows? Never seen this happen to a Thai. It is one thing to accept being screwed, it is another to celebrate it.

Thanks for all the reply.

To Richardb: I'm supposed that you'd been in Garden Beach Resort, can you describe the resort itself since I'm in doubt whether to stay?superior/deluxe room or garden villa. In the resort webpage descriptions(small details) are not found specially where are these rooms situated.

To Thaiquil":agree with you.

To PattayaFox: Thanks too.Now I fairly now where Garden Beach Resort is situated since is not too far from Green Park where I had stayed year 2000.

Basing on what you've said I recall that there are a group of restaurants opposite to Woodland that are cheaper than city based restaurants. A supermarket too.

you enter the resort via a wooden decked reception area the restautant also being a wooden decked open walled wooden roofed afair with fans. Away from the noise and trafic surprisingly cool.

The pool is frankly small and cannot be compared with that of the Green Park if pools are your thing.

The Garden Villas are of a better quality than the green Parks garden villas I have stayed in both . The resort is much much smaller than the Green Park and some of the Green Park rooms are miles from reception. I have not seen the main building rooms in the Garden Resort ( though have in the Green Park ) but have the following general observation. The rooms in main buildings of resorts are mostly better appointed than those in garden villas. I mean they have better aircon and bathrooms with better waterpressure hot water and baths. Its odd that garden villas are often more expensive for frankly worse facilities. They command a premium I guess as people like the atmosphere of garden villas.

Up to you.

Thanks Richard

I've stayed in Green Park Resort and we liked the swimming pool very much.THe restaurant in GP resort is not so good as the a/c is ot working properly and the abf is so so. My thing as you said is really the swimming pool, a fitness club.

How small is the swimming pool and the fitness club?

What do you mean by " the resort is smaller"?

What do you think about the beach? As many beaches like in Phuket,Hua Hin and Koh Samui are full of jelly fish and sea lice, which I hate.

Gracias(thanks in spanish) in advance

For a pool and fitness centre try Areca Lodge on Soi Diand

The Garden resort pool is a very small.

As regards your beach question Do you really come to pattaya for the beach? If so I am sure the Pattaya Toursit Authority would love to feature you.

[Hi Richard

Just arrived from a one month holiday in Europe and preparing to fly to Thailand

I'd looked at Areca and found reasonable.

Do u ever stay there? What do you think about the pools? Is there 2 pools?

How's the breakfast and the rooms?

I read that there's no safety box in the room or in the reception,is it true?

Is it calm/peaceful in the lodge since we have children?

Thanks for any help.
