Iran does not have deep pockets. It's own economy is in tatters and its people are fed up with the financial aid to other groups while Iranians suffer hardship at home. Iran relies on its oil production to finance its activities. Take out the oil export facilities and Iran is stymied for a few years and a regime change occurs. There are many social and poverty issues in iran and it can not afford to go to war. Trump's bluster is to force the Iranians into talks to avoid a war. if anyone wants to avoid a war, it is Trump. I think one of the reasons why Waltz got reassigned was that he was a hawk on iran, and almost none of Trump's advisers agreed with Waltz. The fact is that Trump's strategy has been paying off. His decision to inflict some pain on Yemen has caused Yemen to stop targeting ships. The Iranians will only get one successful cyber hack, and if they are identified , they will get pounded into dust. The USA isn't playing around anymore and the Iranians know it. -
