A New Friend.....

Featured Replies

:)

What to think if a new member added you as a "friend" ?

He/she is a new member since June 1 and has 0 posts.

:D

I'm puzzled.

Maybe I'm superstitious and maybe it's because I come from a country where everyone minds his own business and people look upon you if you're a ghost if you say: "Hello, how are you?"

If you say that they either think you belong in the nut house or you want something...:D

:)

Aaahh, I found out WHY I have a new friend....

It's about a resort and my new friend writes in his/her profile:

"The resort in rawai,it is a nice and comfortable resort. just ten minutes from the seaside town of rawai and nai harn beach."

I'm probably not the only one who's added as a new friend today................... :D

That's okay, I love you, LaoPo. I'll be your friend... :):D :D

Oh, now I understand; you don't WANT friends who you don't know! :D

But, it is kind of odd when it's from someone you haven't even received a message from. I know there are a lot of lurkers on thaivisa and they never post. I have a friend just like that, but he reads everything he finds interesting on the the forums. Maybe it's someone who has followed your posts and agrees with your comments. I don't officially list anyone as a friend even if they are friends or we have private messages between each other.

What does friend status confer? I got a message that someone had added me as friend and I didn't recognize who hey were. They either rethought the idea or I inadvertantly nixed them as I remain friendless. (Hey! What happened to the sad frown emoticon?)

BTW, speaking of profile page stuff, could a kindly moderator or admin clear that "chatter" on my profile page? Frankly, its embarrassing.

some people click friend by accident.

lanna: go to my settings, profile and untick profile comments.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)

Yes, could be, but in this case it's (self) promotion about that resort in Rawai/Phuket :)

If somebody is spamming/soliciting by PM, LP, feel free to report to mods or [email protected]. :)

Thanks SM but in this case I was just very surprised that someone added me as a "friend" without having posted one single message him/herself.

I found out later by looking into that profile and noticed it says something about the resort they're running; nothing more nothing less; a kind of "hidden" self promotion I would think :D

EDIT:

have sent you a PM, explaining

Well, that was an invite to immediately view your profile......sadly, I was too late.:)

One could be mischievious, and perhaps a tad cynical, and suggest that the Nigerian scammers have now moved on from unsolicited e-mail to "befriending" innocent Dutchmen on internet fora.

Scouse.
