I use the internet from my laptop usuing a 1-2-call SIM fittend in AT&T dongle. I am beginning to think that this was a bad decision. If I want to top up the SIM, check the outstanding balance of the SIM (in Baht) or check the number of GPRS hours left, then I have to put the SIM in my cheap and nasty mobile phone and do it all from there.

I have no complaints about the phone (it was cheap) but I have to reset the date and time every time I switch SIMs.

I have been told that it is possible to effectively impersonate the SIM using Skype. Anybody know how this is possible?

If you use Skypeout then you can choose to send a phone number when you make calls or send SMS, a reply SMS will then come directly to your phone. But I think this will only work on full phone numbers, i.e. +66******, not on short numbers, "121", or "*121#", etc.
