First of all I would like to thank Tigerjohn for starting this thread and Tiggerfish for the updates, without them I would be lost.

Most of all I would like to thank everyone who has been posting on this thread. I do not know about most who apply for a visa but before I found this thread I believed it would be sorted within a few weeks hahaha then this thread turned me into a realist

We have been waiting for just over 5 weeks now and it has been easier than we first thought. ok yes I miss my wife very much but by reading and sharing the pain of waiting and the sheer joy of success with everyone on here, life is bearable.

Sorry, I cant provide details of dates other than how long it took. I have a net stalker and Id prefer not offering too much info. 8 weeks 6 days.

What I can say though, Chaps, is why all the nerves and agony aunt stuff?

Look at the stats - nearly everyone is granted the visa, assume it will take 12 weeks and anything else is a bonus. Its a proven, so why get so worried? Just Chill, it will come. Aside, you have absolutely zero control once submitted so any worrying is pointlessly self-inflicted.

If you are in a genuine relationship, your Mrs isn't a crim then alls is fine. That said, even if she is/was a hooker, is 20 years your junior and you are an aged sex tourist then it will still be likely granted!!! So why the nerves and touchy feely? Save the second part for her arrival and the first part, well, flush it as it serves no purpose other than to make you unhappy like the Chap a few pages up puking his ring.

Sorry been really busy lately so not been following this thread. Good to see all the successes - congrats to all. Also quite pleasing that with the odd exception the waiting time has decreased. Good news for those who are waiting as it reduces the agony!

At the risk of repeating myself ...... There is an update on the bank and NI bit so not so much of a repeat

Thai TV DooTV a 2 year subscription for around a hundred quid, less than a pound a week and a huge back catalogue of shows. You need a decent machine and broadband connection though.

Skype for calls back home with a unlimited world subscription means the wife and stepson can talk for as long as they like for less than a tenner a month.

However I would recommend a backup for whatever internet based telephone solution you use as they are all dodgy from time to time, for a back up we use VoipStunt

Mail order Thai ingredients Raan Thai (I've been thrown out of the kitchen, it's a hard life)

NI number, follow this link, my wife got sent hers without an interview.

To register at a Doctors you need photo ID (Passport will do) and proof of address (council tax bill or utility bill)

HSBC did come up with the goods for a bank account (Their Basic type) despite the pessimism about the credit check from the assistant in the branch where we applied.

As long as you have minutes on your phone you can call Thailand for free using the Skype to go no.

Been monitoing this thread and must say its been so usefull and nice to see the support for each other waiting for the visa,

We submitted our visa on the 2nd September and got it back today and was successfull it took 7 weeks and 4 days

Is this just hearsay? and was it a UK settlement visa.

Sorry to be sceptical but that is a big jump in the times judging by our list, which I must say has shown a realistic and gradual reduction in times

Well, hearsay would be when I have no direct experience of the event IE a mate of a mate of a mate.....if you read up, you will see it my wife's friend (and by definition my friend also) got her visa in 7w4d and also the latter one, my very gay Thai mate, got his as outlined.

And yes, settle visas stan, as per the thread.

My own option, which is, of course just that is that perhaps pink applications are dealt with differently? Either way, good luck to them both.

WOW good news all around then ... at least the times are coming down I was pulling my hair out but had accepted the fact it was likely to be 11-12 weeks so was suprised at 9 weeks!! funny thing is its taken 3 weeks to make arrangements for her to move and me to get annual leave etc.... so it was 12 weeks anyway!! lol

Been monitoing this thread and must say its been so usefull and nice to see the support for each other waiting for the visa,

We submitted our visa on the 2nd September and got it back today and was successfull it took 7 weeks and 4 days

Hi Quan, it's not unusual.

Previous people who have been called have ended up getting a result a few working days later.

You have been waiting 4 weeks to date, if you get a result that quickly it will be a new list record.

So far all those that have been called while I have been looking after the list have had a positive result.

hi quan, my wife got 2 calls in one day asking similar things, she got the sms to pick her passport up a couple of days later but the stamp on the visa was dated the day she got the calls, good luck mate,
