I had it done about 10 years ago in the US. Although great during the day, I lost a lot of my night vision. Pretty much always had to wear glasses at night after the surgery. And now, I have to have it redone. If they do so, I will then require reading glasses.

I would research this carefully. I got to a point where I could not wear contacts any more. Just could not do it. I am still glad I did it, but I have to wear glasses now pretty much all the time now for driving and sometimes for watching TV at night...or at night time events.

I also have some friends who had "issues" with their surgery. But that was 10 years ago...I have heard they have a better procedure for dealing with this night time issue....

Hi, thanks for the reply, I have considered it for a couple of years now, but only whilst in the UK, I have not heard much about anyone having the work done here in LOS. I too have heard that they have generally advanced considerably in the last few years, but hopefully someone will come back that has experienced this in Thailand ,

thanks again

I wholeheartedly recommend TRSC. They will be very frank and upfront in telling you what you can and cannot reasonably expect in terms of results. They will not encourage you to have it done it if it is unlikely to benefit you.

I just went for a follow up visit with them a full 12 years after my procedure, quite ready to undergo repeat surgery if they thought it would be helpful as the vision in my best eye, which had been 20/20 has slipped just a bit. They talked me out of it, explaining that whatever I would gain in far vision would be offset by a decrease in near vision given my age, and that I was best off as I am (able to get along without glasses except when driving in unfamiliar areas and needing to read road signs from afar, and usually not needing reading glasses). i appreciated the candor.

Unfortunately as you will see if you go there, they have gone really over the top on luxury in the clinic suite and the tab for that is of course reflected in their prices, which were at the high end to start with. But there is still no topping their expertise. they also put a lot of time and effort into patient education ahead f time so that you know the risks as well as the odds of obtaining x v=improvement in your specific case. Don't know if still the case but initial consultations used to be free.

In terms of night vision, mine was lousy before the surgery and lousy afterwards, they had told me not to expect it to improve and it didn't although it didn't worsen either. Some people though -- a minority -- do experience increased problems with glare after LASIK. Discuss this and any other concerns with them.

P.S. for those who do have trouble with nighttime glare, with much trial and error I learned the best solution is yellow tinted glasses, yellow like one wears skiing. Helps a lot.

Hi Sheryl, thanks for the links, I see those links are a couple years old now so I assume that things have further improved since then even, I think I shall search out some of the clinics as I have a few weeks off from work coming up..

thanks again

My friend has just been to Rutnin eye hospital in Bangkok (Asoke area). They said that he was unsuitable for laser eye surgery, however, the service at this place and the prices were much better than anywhere else that he's been to. The doctor was straight upfront and didn't try to push any other technology to make some cash as they do in 'certain' other places.
