Someone Logged In On My Account,

bkkmadness

Jai Dee contacted me advising me to log out of public computers because of this thread where someone mistakenly posted under my name.

thread

What I don't understand is that I have used a home computer for logging onto Thaivisa since I first joined and though on a few occaisions I have logged on in net cafes when I have been out of town or just a month or so ago when my computer broke down it's very rare I do so, and it would be such a coincedence for someone else to use one of those computers where I may still be logged in.

Is there any other way they could have posted under my name such as a forum/software glitch for example and what does this mean to the security of our accounts? :o

Second question, can I charge some kind of royalty fee from the other member for using my esteemed bkkmadness brand to endorse their post? I was thinking maybe 50 satang a word? :D

Anyway I have mailed the member concerned to find out where they logged on as maybe they do in fact live in the same building as me and have used the same net cafe computer I had to use a month ago, but maybe you could look into it at your end or offer some suggestions as to how it happened?

Thx

"BkkMadness - Although I'm not so much of a nature-girl....." :o:D

I guess if it wasn't for a young lady writing under your nick, you would never have found out - certainly worrying if you have not recently used a shared PC....

Two things you got to remember when not using your own computer:

1. make sure windows knows you are using a shared computer so when you log on read clearly the notice concerning remembering you again and hack the appropriate places. If you do this incorrectly, a cookie is sent to the machine and your log on will be remembered.

2. Always formally log off (and out) of Thaivisa. You can remain logged on for ever on an always open machine - until a reboot.

I have not had this happen here but on another forum I several times came up as someone else and had a very hard time getting my identity to register using my normal home computer so it should be checked; as he did not use a shared computer recently. Perhaps one of those cookies held his identity and signed on when someone went to TV? Will be interesting to find out if it was a computer he had used last month.

The poster actually realised and made a note under the post. If not I may have assumed that I had slept walked, logged onto the pc in my sleep and posted some weird sub concious sexually repressed feelings about wanting to be a woman. :D

Bearing in my your comments Tom, I think that whenever I have used a pc thats not my own I have probably not even logged onto thaivisa as I dont bother posting if I'm away from home and haven't much spare time for the internet and even if have logged on I am careful to log out.

Thers two net cafes where I may be logged in, one is in Tak and I'm probably the only farang customer ever to use it, and the other near my building but the chances are pretty astronomical leading me to believe that something else has gone wrong here. When the member replies to my PM to say where she logged on I will know for sure.

Just reading that reminds me off something else that happened. I clicked onto the bkktonite website the other week from my home computer and lo and behold I was logged in as the 'sperminator' :o:D:D

But as soon as I changed page I was suddenly logged out. The thing is, I maybe could've checked profile, checked mail addresses, checked password and had access to his mail accounts and I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone here.

OK, turns out chances wre not astronomical and I din't log off the local computer shop near me a while back when my home computer died on me. Just got a pm from the member and they live in my area, maybe even my building.

Goes to show how many people really use this forum on a day to day basis doesn't it.

also, goes to show should heed Toms warning at all times though perhaps some automtic log off after a few days could be worked into the system on thaivisa?

BTW I cant be arsed to go down to the net shop to find the computer and sign out coz there may have been more than one, so any bargirl topics, pm spamming or porn pics that may appear to have been posted by me in the future, are of course not genuine. :o

that setting does not exist in the admin cp. i think most home users wouldn't want to re-enter their password every few days. however, gmail.com does force a complete login/password once a month.

change your password now and you won't have to worry about the computer in the cafe.

for security, if you must use a shared computer , change you password often because there are more keylogger programs out there then many realize.
