I was very interested in finding out why the guy who has the job of posting the news clippings is the most popular member in the greenie stakes.

I checked WebFacts rep.

About 2/3s of his greenies have come from two people, presumably his best buddies- Neverdie and Rimmer. Dantilly to a lessor extent is also enamored.

This highlights my reasons for disliking the whole system, Points for Pals.

(disclaimer: the majority of my 6 or 7 points have come from one poster, but I feel that was more about the subject of a bereavement thread I started)

Maybe they just admire the amount of time and hard work he puts into the news. and I have to say, that his efforts during the demos in bangkok were stellar, so sorry if you think that's points for pals but I consider it more like effort rewarded.

I'm certainly not critising his efforts in putting together the news we all crave to get daily. He does a good job. (Perhaps the person in charge of the Classifieds should be getting a bit more recognition too, I'm sure they work just as hard without the recognition)

Whatever slant you put on it sbk, and I perceive a pattern in the way you always jump into the defensive mode against some, I still think that 2 posters, out of 102,000, giving such huge plaudits to one person, is outside simple recognition of someones good efforts.

I enjoy reading the news, some stuff I don't like and don't bother with but this 5 second format fits perfectly with my busy schedule so I like I show my appreciation of it, I can then follow the thread through if I want. If the green boxes were not there wouldn't bother me but I like to show appreciation for hard work.

Its not easy being an admin or a mod ya know :( takes a lot of time so we can all enjoy the forum. So to give a little recognition where its due doesn't hurt anyone. :)

I noticed the other day that webfact was given a red for a news story he posted.

I can only think that the giver didn't like the story ad decided that webfact should be redded to show their disapproval, as though he is somehow at fault.

I think that there are a few out there who really just don't get it.

I was told, in no uncertain terms, that the greens were awarded for the efforts of the cut and paste person and had nothing to do with content. Presumably the red was allocated for the same reasons.

Is there a league table for Greenies and reds?

I presume you mean a league table, I think they are trying to incorporate it in the next upgrade,

Because of the worthless Greens given out in this thread, so actually contributing to the actual need for them, perhaps consideration shall be considered in being able o switch off from the worthless merry-go-round.

Have a quick glance in OTB and scratch and patch vote for each whilst bodge and scarper ensure they fire the red in, or Vicky Verky

Some people just click on the wrong icon by mistake. At least that is what they tell me.

I almost understood that, so gave you a greenie.

If I'd really understood it, it might have been a red card.

And the Greens hold the balance of power in the new World of Gillard, so it must mean something, somewhere.

Usually I'm unimpressed with bumps, but I have to say that I missed this thread the first time around (due to that mongrel of an Asus notebook I used to have). Thanks for the bump, PS - let the debate march on. My 25 satang - TD can keep them to themselves. There are enough flamers and trolls here already without adding the element of red stalkers.

Is that " "insert name here" Likes This" feature, new? I never noticed it before till just now. Seems pretty silly.
