Have a 2006 model bought new and have asked toyota dealers around the country about changing fuel filter. Get mixed messages. The main big black job behind the motor is some sort of carbon filter which i have been told does not need changing, which puzzles me, as i can imagine the fuel in this country the fuel would include a few contaminants and H2O?? but also told that there is a filter in the fuel tank which can be changed but as i do not read Thai can get no information from Toyota or the car manual at a loss. Anyone can advise me?????

Most diesel cars / pick ups have a screw in filter before the injectors. There may well be a filter in the tank but I would change the cartridge ones a lot sooner than 80,000km

the above may be the case but the vios 1.5 naturally asperated petrol engine does not have diesel injectors

and for the record have had the filter changed..... 870 tbt, got the one that was replaced after 100,000 ks a weird plastic thingy that connects to the fuel line inside the tank, all very strange, that i smashed open to find a paper filter inside which was indeed very dirty with grit and stuff inside, definately needed replacing
