Why is a Farang on a local train?

oh come on Piengrudee.Maybe he was travelling by train to see the countryside or just maybe he was travelling thailand on a budget as many backpacker's do.I think you are intelligent or are you same as all thais that think all foreigners are rich.

Why is a Farang on a local train?

Why not? RIP young man. :(

Why do these reports always mention the amount of money that the person was holding. Is it really relevant? I can't imagine that this would be mentioned in the western press.

Very sad story.

Cheers, Rick

Lets have some consideration here please, the young man's family could easily find this thread and read it so spare a thought for them and their loss before posting.

too late... we found it already.

Jordan was one of the most amazing, talented, warm hearted people in this world. He will be missed by everyone he ever met.

Why is a Farang on a local train?

Because 8,000 baht wasn't enough to pay for a taxy.

"Why is a Farang on a local train?" Same same as "Why did the Chicken cross the road?" It is just a fun & silly questions.

In the circumstances involved in this thread, it is not "fun & silly questions."

Richmond man who rose to YouTube fame found dead in Thailand

Krull, who had limited resources but often said he survived on “sheer will,” had told friends that his journey to Thailand was part of a bigger plan to find purpose and “figure [things] out in the world.” Since May, he had also travelled to Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Pakistan, carrying with him a few belongings, including a leather-bound notebook in which he often wrote freestyle rhymes. He was also known to burst into rhyme during conversation.

“I’m still proud that he went and did this,” said Krull’s sister, Courtenay Anderson. “He was just really ready to find something new, to reinvent himself.”

Krull grew to fame during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, after his plan to light a cigarette off the Olympic torch went awry when he was tackled to the ground by police and a video of the incident went viral on YouTube. The video, titled Jesus arrested at the Olympic torch relay — a reference to Krull’s scraggly hair and bushy goatee — has been viewed more than 309,000 times to date.

I'm from Richmond originally and now live in Thailand. I grew up knowing Jordan.

My friends are asking for information, so any articles you guys could you please pass them along. Much appreciated. Thanks for all the help so far.

My condolences to the friends and family of the victim. A tragic loss of what seems like a very interesting person.

Okay to ask if Jordan was new to Thailand and train travel? if one decided to hang out between cars and look out to have wind rush in the face, there is often only a few centimeters of clearance. for this bad accident that is the least worst way ,is he was having a king of the world moment, like in Titantic movie. I think in Canada trains have at least one meter clearance.

Sounds to me he was between cars having a smoke, probably sat down on the stairs or tripped doing so.

Sad. Rip.

Man who lit cigarette off Olympic torch dies in Thai train accident

A man who gained Internet notoriety after lighting a cigarette off the 2010 Vancouver Olympic torch has died in a freak train accident in Thailand. Jordan Ashley Krull, 26, died after falling from a train in Ratchaburi province, 80 kilometres west of Bangkok.

According to the Bangkok Post, Krull’s body was found early Tuesday morning half a kilometre away from the Chet Samian railway station with a head injury. He is believed to have fallen from the train hours earlier while standing on a step of an open doorway. In his pocket were his passport, an ID card, a train ticket, and 8,000 baht, said the report.

Tributes have started pouring into a Facebook memorial page, with friends remembering Krull as an adventurer and lyricist with a zest for life. “Of all the risks he took in his short but jam-packed life of adventure and excitement, to fall off a darn train in Thailand seems bizarre and baffling,” said Ryf Van Rij.
