I've been hearing rumors that there is now a flight from Bangkok to Korat but I can't find anything. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? If so, any details would be appreciated!

Three to four hours max by VIP coach at a fraction of the cost by air. Personally I wouldn't go through all the bother of flying such a short distance. Done the trip many times by road. Far less fuss.

But that's just me. :(

"Quote 650bt, but when you go to book they add on all the extras. Cost more than double their initial price. AVOID!"

Isn't that the way most airlines advertise? If you avoid all of them that do that, who is left to fly with?

Is the way they advertise your only reason for avoiding them, or is there something else?

What? 57 quid is too much to get home in less than a couple of hours versus +4 hours buggering around in traffic on a bus? Bloody bargain in my book.

In australia we have 'truth in advertising' they aren't allowed to hide any costs.

Well they aren't supposed to but...............

Maybe this will be one of the reasons :

By bus:

The time from MOCHIT2 in Bangkok to Bus Terminal in Korat

- - - - - - - 3 hours and half - 4 hours

This time depends on the traffic jam in Bangkok also, but it is 3 hours and half in usual. Because the location of Mochit 2 is on the suburbs.

By plane:

Check in time in Bangkok Airport: 30 min - 1 hour

Flight Time: 1 hour

Check out in Korat Airport: 30 min

Transportation from Korat Airport to Down Town: 30 min (about 30km)

-------------------------

Total: 2 hours and half - 3 hours

The time between by bus and by plane differs only 30 min - 1 hour.

Looks like they're whipsawing their 2 aircraft all around Thailand! Makes connecting to another flight potentially challenging. Service to/from NAK just started 19 August.

A bit generous with bus and associated times but as you say, to each his own.

If I was down in Bangkok shopping or on the piss, I would use the bus. If I was coming in on a flight or catching one out of BKK, Happy Air is the way.

6 months ago Nok Air was bring 2 Saab 340's in from Australia on a wet lease crewed by Rex of Sydney, are these the same Saabs?

Is Happy pat of Nok Air? About Us link is dead on website.

On this particular route, byt he time you get to the airport and allow for nasty traffic, check in, wait for flight, if flight on time, fly, get your stuff and then get to destination which may involve renting a car eithier self drive or hire a car for the day it is easier to just get a car in Bangkok and drive there.

Cheers

What? Driving yourself from Bangkok to Korat beats having someone fly you there for the same price as a London cab to Heathrow?

Nice how everyone spouts all the worst-case airport delay scenarios in their comparisons and never mention ANY possible road traffic issues that may impede the drive like rain, wrecks, police radar traps, rain, outside lane crawlers, mad buses, rain, the ubiquitous convoy of airconditioned buses chock full of school kids in the outside lane with police escorts, punctures, rain, piss-stops and the need for noodles (when traveling with her indoors who coincidentally has the smallest bladder in the Kingdom). Did I mention the rain? Last I saw, there aint no autobahns in LOS!

I hope you really do haveaniceday!

It is good, that there is some alternative to bus, train or taxi.

But bus is the best - highway to Korat is excellent,bus go every 15 mins from early morning till midnight,no waiting;all travel is not more then 3hours and half;

traffic is easy

if you go to DanMuang - it is only 3 hours!Buses are all very comfortable, fast and...about 200B only, and they serve you drinks, snacks and smiles plus videos, nothing of that in budget airlines.
