Bangkok Hospital Discharged Severely Ill Patients After UAE Government Refuses To Pay The Bills

I boycott several if these hospitals already.

But the problem is that many foreigners here are deluding themselves that going to the most expensive ones automatically mean that they are receiving the best treatment.

While in effect that might not be completely wrong, they could get the same treatment for much less if the dared to look outside the 'labels' or 'names'.

bummangrad is not the cheapest but it does have USA board certified doctors which means the doctors should be able to communicate and have had international practice, the facility also has the most up to date equipment, the rooms are on the same level as a 3 star hotel so i think it is more about what a person wants and is willing to pay for more than price alone.

My family has also had several bad / unacceptable experiences at the big B, and two other so called 5 star hospital in Bangkok and in Pattaya. All of our bad experiences are about poor medical care and/or mistakes, and/or rudeness / and/or getting patient names wrong, wrong bills, and more. One example; my 3 year old granddaughter was admitted to one of the 5 star places, her father double checks everything and caught the nurse about to give an injection of the wrong medicine. No apology. My son took it up with the doctor who laughed it off and said "the nurse is busy". We will never go back to these places.

The big B may well have USA certified doctors who can speak excellent English but that's definitely no guarantee that they don't make mistakes and no guarantee that they are good listeners or pleasant.

You want to pay more is up to you but there's also the point about blatant rip off.

On the other hand (as already shared by another poster in regard to Khon Kaen hospital) there are many government hospitals where you can get excellent care, board certified doctors, at very very reasonable cost.

Today our hospital of choice is the government hospital at Sri Racha and we drive down from Bangkok unless it's something more urgent. Sri Racha is a new generation hospital in the government hospital system. Excellent care, board certified doctors, very thorough, all speak excellent English, all are good listeners and engage in good discussions, state of the art equipment, and all have a very pleasant bed-side manner, and go out of their way to make patients feel at ease.

The big plus for me is that speak to all patients, poor or rich, Thai or farang, with respect. Unlike older style Thai hospitals and doctors clinics the Thai patients at Sri Racha are carefully enouraged to talk to the doctors, to speak up.

And their bills are a tiny fraction of the so called 5 star hospitals.
