September 11, 201015 yr I've search the board but didn't find the answer I need. I'm a farang employee skilled in banking, marketing & sales, which location should I choose to get a job in that scope of activity as soon as it possible. I've been told Bangkok is a city of opportunity, but Pattaya is the reservation of farangs (it is really loyal to foreigners). Which location in your opinion has + & - that way.
September 11, 201015 yr If I was looking for a banking job I would go were the banks are, Bangkok. If I wanted a job in the bar business I would go to Pattaya.
September 11, 201015 yr "I'm a farang employee skilled in banking, marketing & sales" Does this mean you already have a job and are now looking at options?
September 12, 201015 yr Pattaya is a sewer, it is Thailand's cesspool. Great answer...obviously spent a lot of time thinking about this one? To OP: getting a job here is tough! I would post this in the business section...you would probably get better replies. I am no expert, but I agree with the above comment that the big banks are all headquartered in Bangkok. With that being said, good luck getting a job there. Do you speak Thai? If not, it will be even harder. Best bet is to go to your home country, apply with a global bank there, and try and get sent to Thailand to work. Otherwise, about all you can find here is a job teaching English...poor pay for sure. Best of luck!
September 12, 201015 yr Pattaya is a sewer, it is Thailand's cesspool. Bangkok, which is actually SINKING, and has serious problems with FLOODING, is more close to a literal CESSPOOL than Pattaya.
September 12, 201015 yr Get job in BKK. once you are retired with lots of money, move to pattaya or perhaps a better place like Samui / Similan and then open a small bar / rest aurant just to have something to do and cover your motnhly expenses. I would avoid pattaya. the beach, girls, city are all dirty. Enjoy life.
September 12, 201015 yr Pattaya is loyal to falangs? lol What does that even mean. If you are serious about working Bangkok, if you are serious about fornication then Pattaya.
September 12, 201015 yr I have never been so angry, this post must be from an old white fat bald farang If the censors need to delete no problem, but I'm sorry this made me so mad.
September 12, 201015 yr I have never been so angry, this post must be from an old white fat bald farang If the censors need to delete no problem, but I'm sorry this made me so mad. The truth hurts, does it?
September 12, 201015 yr If I was looking for a banking job I would go were the banks are, Bangkok. If I wanted a job in the bar business I would go to Pattaya. He said he wants a job, by that we assume he wants financial reward for doing that job. The bar business anywhere, but especially Pattaya, is not the place to make your fortune. The bar business is the sector to get into when you've made your fortune and you've realised that money is the root of all evil and cannot buy happiness thus you want to disinvest yourself of all the filthy lucre as quickly as possible. There is, assuming you have that tidy little pile, a quicker way. Just PM me and I'll supply details of a bank account into which you can transfer the funds. Seriously though, Pattaya is not, unless you are in the Oil & Gas business, the place to look for gainful employement. To an extent Thailand is not the place to base yourself unless you're into the hospitality/tourism business. I know that is a gross generalisation but it's true and the country also comes with a certain level of perceptional baggage. The "knowing" looks when you say that you work in Thailand, nothing is ever said, at least not to your face, but you know what is going through their minds. Work permits are another major hurdle to overcome and Thailand has an oversupply of bankers. As for those that say Pattaya is a cesspool, well it's true it don't suit everyone but obviously you've applied one of life's golden rules to your time in Pattaya "Seek and ye shall find your heart's desire".
September 12, 201015 yr If you're looking for a job in the banking sector then Pattaya is really no alternative to Bangkok. If we're talking about general quality of life then Pattaya wins hands down. That stinking, sinking, polluted cesspool that they call Bangkok I only dip my toe in when going to the airport - and then only the outskirts, thank you Bhudda!
September 12, 201015 yr I have never been so angry, this post must be from an old white fat bald farang If the censors need to delete no problem, but I'm sorry this made me so mad. The truth hurts, does it? UberBraun As you feel so passionate about this amzing country where many choose to live by choice. Why not save some of your pension and bugger off back to where you came from taking your degrading opinions with you. Or are you one of the sad old beggars that cannot get a woman in his own country possibly because of attitude & biggoted opinions & think you have the right to come here & do the same. shooying youe mouth off. By the way the airport is only 90 minutes from Pattaya now wiht the new motorway & even closer from Bangkok. I bet your a real joy to have a beer with.
September 12, 201015 yr Stay away from Pattaya. Its dirty and a lot of crazy farangs there. Having lived in Bangkok, I could say the same thing about it. Pattaya is what you make of it. If you base yourself on Soi Bua Khow, then you are asking for it...and probably love it! If you are outside the city, life is pretty good....especially the clean air!
September 12, 201015 yr Unless you are fluent in Thai language then you will be struggling with banks, Government departments etc, just like in any other foreign country, don't despair though, look at the expat scene , plenty of companies around , not with standing that, buy, start your own company, cost money though.
September 12, 201015 yr Its all been said - Bangkok, even if it is at sea level and sinking - just get a corner office high up to elongate the tenure!
September 15, 201015 yr Pattaya is the toilet of The World. may be true, but it sure is fun takin' a pss there
