The wife has a latest model Fortuner petrol model for use mostly around the city. Is benzine 91 or gasohol 91 the best option? It seems cost wise there is no savings as the kpl/mpg is reduced with gasohol offsetting any price paid per liter at the pump?

What fuels would most board members use for newer petrol cars if they had the choice assuming the pump stations sold all of them?

1. LPG, but always running petrol 91 below 60C coolant temp

2. 91 Gasohol E10. You say kpl is reduced, is that a fact for your car or something you have been informed? My experience is no change in milage on E10

No Gasohol E20, even if Toyota say it can be used, I wouldnt since it cant be used in other markets on same car

If car is used very little and fuel gets old, gasohol separates and Ethanol falls to bottom of tank, providing very high content of damaging Ethanol when used. So petrol only for those who fill up only every 4-8 weeks.

We have no data information from other sources, but have noticed when using E10 the car dashboard consumption rate repeatedly shows less km per litre over time after resetting it. On long haul journey averaging 9km/liter using E10 vs 11km/liter using petrol. So the markup in price of petrol would be returned with the extended range. We now tend to use petrol in cities only anyway, if its available, as the refills are once every 2 weeks or so with car on standby some days so concerned about fuel quality over time.

I have to concur withh KBB here.

My Camry gets the same or slightly better (depending how you drive) mileage on the Gasohol E10.

Since the Fortuna and Camry engine is basically the same - you might want to get the Toyota service centre to look at the ECU if you are experiencing what you describe above.

Ok thanks, will ask at Toyota. Thanks guys.

20-25% difference, one way or the other, between gasohol E10 and petrol with same octane rating is not possible.

def reset ECU

and measure the old fashion way for 3 full tanks at the same time of day (same temp fuel). Reset trip on each filling and divide km on litres

if you fill up only fortnight I would stick with petrol to avoid high consentration of ethanol in bottom of tank

I never leave a bike or car for a month with Ethanol in tank, but I do use it day to day
