Sunday Brunch at The Living Room, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit

Once a week, the various food outlets at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit gather around the Living Room floor to prepare a fantastic Sunday Brunch. Nothing beats drinking a nice glass of wine while listening to jazz and tasting various cheeses and chocolates on a relaxing, lazy Sunday. This will be a review for Sunday Brunch at the Living Room, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Arriving earlier won't hurt since parking is complimentary and you can always take the BTS to Emporium to work (and walk) up your appetite.

(I am trying to get as many photos into my reviews as possible because nothing helps you viewers make a decision better then seeing the place yourself. Currently I can only take photos from my Phone, so my apologies if they come out a bit blurry and unclear at times. )

To make this review as short as possible, the food available is basically everything from the Seafood Buffet organized at the Orchid Cafe (Which can be read by selecting Buffets in the left hand menu) and so much more. Rock Lobsters, an unbelievably large selection of pastas, smoke salmon, Peking Duck, Dimsum, various cuts of roasted pork, beef and lamb, cakes, crepes, waffles, chocolates, cheeses, oysters, prawn and fish roe, eggs cooked to your liking, pizza, breads, and a long line of cold and hot appetizers and finger foods.

There are different seating options a this Sunday Brunch, from the Thai Restaurant Basil, Italian Rossinis and Coffeshop-style Living room. I had a bit of trouble finding out more about Sunday Brunch at Sheraton Grande so I decided to include this into me review as well. Hopefully it will make your selection of table easier. Below you will see some of the photos I took from around the buffet which takes up the entire first floor of the hotel. Personally I enjoyed seating at the Living Room because there was a live jazz band playing. Reservations are recommended to avoid being stuck in one of the more high-seated-uncomfortable-chairs at Basil =).

All outlets are relatively close to the food so that shouldn't be a problem. The Foe Grois is located in Rossinis and the Thai food / chicken rice is at Basil. The buffet also comes with free flow alcoholic and soft drinks, readily available at the bar.

The Kids corner, which got pretty crowded around 1. Around 5-6 Staff members were present to take care of children just in case you would like a break.

Dessert variety is large but none of the cakes were outstanding. The waffles and Ice cream were a hit though, crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside.

Seared Salmon, Lamb, Satay, Lasagna and Chicken

Roasted Beef, Parma Ham and Mashed Potatoes

Smoked Salmon, and Sashimi

Cold Starters, excellent quality

The Seafood which would usually be crowded, but at this buffet theres just too much to choose from.

Be prepared to spend a good 2-3 hours here and enjoy the food and the music. However, for the price we were paying I felt that they were not giving us the appropriate service that we should have gotten. Waiters seemed pre-occupied at times and at no point did I feel the service reach a personal level.

Almost 20 Flavors of delicious ice cream

Although the food here was fantastic, an important part of going to a Sunday Brunch would be for the staff and service. Off the top of my head, the buffet was around 2350 Baht Per Person Nett. I will definitely come back here again when I have the chance, it is definitely currently in my top 3 Buffets and I would recommend that you stop by if you happen to enjoy Lazy, Jazzy, Sunday Brunches!

Thanks for the info danny. Another top foodie venue by the looks of things......maybe the staff have learnt to keep their distance to avoid those sharp elbow in the ribs moments....

Cheers.

Would definitely say the range of food is fantastic and I could have sat for hours just drinking coffee and nibbling on snacks. The service was not was I expected though, the only time I saw a smile was when they checked my reservation at the entrance : /

I would personally say the best overall buffet I have had so far would be at Lord Jims, The Mandarin Oriental. Excellent food, and amazing service, its definitely a buffet to try if you want to start somewhere in the vast pool of gastronomical delights in Bangkok!

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has always been one of the top hotels in town. The food is no exception and you should try Rossini's on a weekday. Just fabulous albeit a little pricey for long stay Farang. It has to be the best Italian in BKK and there is some stiff competition. The GM also runs a tight ship and the staff at all levels are dedicated and experienced 5 star. Thumbs up from my side for sure.

You have different levels of buffet here depending on how extravagant or gluttonous you wish to be, but many are excellent in quality (and in value for money compared to the West). Landmark have a 2 for 1 offer coming out at 800 baht per person. A big choice, but then who really has a stomach big enough to taste everything - you're paying for all the food you can't eat or don't want to eat.

Whilst Baiyoke may be poor quality (but inexpensive) a happy medium would be ideal - so another special offer is at Swissotel (old Nai Lert Park) with another 2 for 1. This comes out at 400 baht per person! Ok, not as big as Landmark but the quality of food is just as good, presentation is better and the concoctions more interesting. Basically, it has all you need for a brilliant buffet without the overkill, keeping the price stupidly low. There is no way I'll be going out to spend 500+ for a 2 course restaurant meal while this promo is on....it's absolutely brilliant. Oysters, perfect beef/lamb/chicken cooked to order, great thai food, a more interesting salad bar than I've seen elsewhere, pastas, seafood, pizza and loads more. I don't go out to take photos of food, but this must easily be the best deal in Bangkok now.

There definitely different levels of buffets in Bangkok, everything from a couple of hundred to thousands. I have heard lots reviews of the buffet at Swissotel, both good and bad. I wanted to try it a couple of weeks ago but they were fully booked (I would assume because of the 2 for 1 deal going on)

The Landmark has an excellent buffet and is getting more popular everyday, simply because it has a wide spread of food and the price isn't too expensive.

I love the buffet at Novotel Siam Square, and just recently I ate at Sofitel Centara at Lardprao (Chatujuk Cafe) which just finished renovating. The food improved by ALOT, and I will be writing a review for it sometime soon =) With the accor member card you are usually paying only around 400 baht for Lunch / Dinner and maybe 700 baht per person for SUnday Brunch. Novotel SIam always has promotions going on so be sure to call ahead and check.

Other then Swissotel, Le Meridian is also in the same price range along with the Novotels and Sofitels. I had lunch for 600 Baht there, food variaty was so-so at best.

Happy eating!

Good write up.

I had sunday brunch in Four Seasons yesterday for the first time. Food was excellent, ambiance was ok and the place was full. Price for 3 adults was around 7,000 baht total (2 kids under 4 yrs ate for free which was nice)

The only other place ive been so far for brunch is Shangri la. Food in Four Seasons is better (just) but the location/ambiance of Shangri la (large open room by the river) is nicer. Shangri la is also much more kid friendly and slightly cheaper.

Next one to try- Sukothai hotel.

As an aside- best buffet i ever had was in Fullerton hotel Singapore, on a Christmas eve- free flow V. Cliquot, unlimited alaskan king crab were the highlights, was about 130 USD per person (though this was 3-4 years ago). Plan to maybe head back there this xmas ...
