I have been trying to email a page from The Nation in PDF form to a friend but keep geting this message "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed"

I go to accounts and the setup looks like this

1 Your name john smith

2 Email address johnsmith@hotmail

3 Incoming mail ser,, HTTP

4 Incoming mail server Hotmail

5 Account name johnsmith

and this is set as default, so can anyone tell me what is wrong.

If that is exactly what you have in your configuration then nearly all of it is wrong. Line 2 should be [email protected] (though not critical) however lines 3 & 4 are critical.

3. should be the fqdn (fully qualified name of the ISP) in this case I am guessing xxx.hotmail.com where xxx is whatever your outgoing mail server name is. and the same goes with 4. which I suspect is you mean "Outgoing mail server" xxx.hotmail.com Not using hotmail I believe xxx would be simply www or mail such as mail.hotmail.com or www.hotmail.com

incoming server from hotmail should be mail.hotmail.com, not http ot pop.

and yes! email addresses are [email protected], net, org, etc ....

may be take a look at hotmail page the "how-to" setup your mail client would help
