I was considering a TEFL Course with Text and Talk Language Center.

But, I have heard some recent rumors that they may be closing down their businesses in Bangkok and Pattaya.

Does anyone have any solid information, inside information about their future?

Has anyone else heard this rumor?

I just want to pick a long-term, reputable and stable school for my TEFL.

Text and Talk has been around for quite a while. I had a friend to went there many years ago. He was pleased.

If they are making any business changes, I don't think that would affect you as a student.

They will only be stopping their TEFL course in Bangkok that I know of. The last class ends this month I believe for TEFL teachers.

If true, somewhat of a sea change for the TEFL industry in Thailand given that Text and Talk is one of the oldest and most prolific courses in Thailand.

Bangkok has always been their largest TEFL operation as far as I know.

If they are dropping their TEFL classes in Bangkok and Pattaya, then I'd say it could very well be a sign of the times due to decreasing TEFL trainee numbers overall in Thailand and more and more competition for the smaller number of students interested in taking such a course in LOS.

They are not dropping the TEFL courses in Pattaya. In fact, they have a new course starting next month. So, there may be some changes, but it doesn't appear to be a total business closing.

Also, I heard word that the current transitioning is due to the owners wanting to retire and move their family members into the business to run the operations in the future. This may explain the recent personnel

changes inside the organization, including some staff leaving and new ones coming in. Again, this seems more like a transition then a going out of business sign.

It's a sales outfit, think used car lot. Not an educational institution.

Fewer buyers(students), obviously you have to cut expenses, close down lots and reduce inventory. There will be no course if they don't have enough sales(students). This particular outfit lost all creditibility when they claimed years ago you had to have a "certificate" to get a VISA and Work Permit. "Low miles, driven by an elderly lady".

All but a few have noticed the Thai Government wants to take over the training revenue stream with their culture and exam stuff. TEFL certificates are never even mentioned.

Like the other member, some report good experiences with Text and Talk. They also place teachers as does the other "big" one.(act as an agency) It's sales, govern yourself and your money with that in mind. The only reason they would close is not enough sales.
