Fire Nancy Polosi

Can John Dennis save America? ?

Fellow Patriotic American:

On the evening of Tuesday, November 2nd, hundreds of candidates across the nation will be delivering concession speeches, but is there any concession speech you'd rather see more than the one I'll force Nancy Pelosi to deliver?

For 23 years, citizens nationwide and the people of San Francisco have been waiting with baited breath to see Nancy Pelosi at a podium for the last and final time.

Out of the hundreds of Americans campaigning nationwide to defeat the Obama agenda and fill the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, I'm the ONLY candidate who is actually running AGAINST Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

I'm the ONLY candidate who can truly RETIRE NANCY PELOSI this Fall...

Fascinating that derogatory terms about her must be made regarding her sex rather than her politics. would we do the same with a man? I don't think so.

I am awaiting for the derogatory comments on her appearance. guess she's lucky that she's not fat because that would certainly condemn her, not her abilities or lack thereof.

I thought this thread was about Nancy Pelosi, not Sarah Palin.

I made my last reply before watching the video. Now that I have, WHAT are you talking about? The ad is funny, nothing bad said about Pelosi because she's a woman. The actress playing the witch looks a lot better than Nancy so she should be happy about that. In fact, she looks like that Repub woman who recently made an ad where she states that she isn't a witch because that's what he opponents have been saying. Is that the same woman that Jerry Brown - who is running for Gov of California - called a whore? Or was that his staffer doing the name calling? It's hard to keep track of all these attacks on women politicians - even the ones who have it coming like Nancy Pelosi. ;)

Isn't that a bit of a red herring? Harry Reid would be called an A-Hole, rather than a witch - otherwise not much difference as far as sex goes.

I have never heard a man called a witch, but I have heard women called <deleted>. People pick on her hair, or Hillary Clinton's pantsuits, the list is endless. But, never mind, no point in trying to explain something that you really can't even begin to understand.

Not much too understand really. Political satire & name calling is as old as politics.

Of course some make better targets than others due to their actions or in-actions as the case may be. But I think it is not a matter of men get it less than women or vice versa.....

It is their deeds that attract it & of course blind partisanship.

That's a ridiculous cop-out, It's not that no one understands your point, it just isn't valid. Men aren't called witches because by definition a witch is female. By coincidence, I saw the end of Wizard of Oz last night on TCM and the wicked witch was green with a big fake nose. Watch the above political ad and tell me what the witch "Nancy" looks like. She looks closer to Samantha Stevens of "Bewitched" than the WW of the W.

They may pick on a woman's hair but they did the same to John Edwards who ran for VP in 2004 (or former American football coach.Jimmy Johnson of the Cowboys so it isn't just about politics).

Geraldine Ferraro broke the glass ceiling of a woman being put on the ticket for the 2nd highest office in the land (VP) in 1984, and Hillary has broken the "it's OK not to treat her special because she's a woman" ceiling. Sarah Palin is shining example of being attacked relentlessly so Nancy has nothing to complain about. As they say "Politics is a contact sport". And like in any contact sport, the penalties start flying as the game gets more intense.

Just a quick side note...I'm not joining this debate, nor trying to critisise....... FYI, men are called witches (not wizards, warlocks or whatever as in the movies). The word comes from the Italian wicce (masculine) or wicca (feminine), as does the Wicca (pronounced "wicka" this time) religion name.

Didn't affect Bessie Braddock in England after WWII, but then the 'fat police' were unheard of.

It seems to happen throughout the world, though. Female politicians have to present themselves in a far more well-groomed manner than the men, although probably Michael Foot and Nye Bevan were the only two 'scruffs' who got to high positions in UK.

Megawatti Sukharnoputri got to the top in Indonesia, and she was no lightweight. Several ladies have won power in the Philippines, but usually well turned out.

La Gillard has been wearing the same white jacket for the past two months, but still no one comments on her policies. (No one understands her policies).

But looking around the world, I see very few female politicians who appear 'feminine', if you understand what I mean by that. Not wearing 'power suits'; not striding around as if on a hockey pitch or going to the stables to mount a hunter. Smiling naturally (La Gillard is terrible at smiling). They're all business, never seem to relax, whereas their male counterparts can appear relaxed and approachable most of the time.

OK, Harry Reid is a bastard and he gets plenty of criticism for being a nerd and a phony. Does that even things out?

Just so that everyone is clear, might this statement be interpreted as flaming?

No it would be considered baiting ( no pun based on your post intended ) :D

Funny (flaming - baiting) although I disagree. Baiting need not include an affront to one's character or ability.

No, now everyone settle down a bit. Even this place has limits.

on the topic of pant suits and women thinking they need to dress like a man i.e. wear ties etc... is this just an american thing? where did this idea come from anyway? did some designer decide that if a woman is to be taken seriously she must look like a man? i can remember back in 96 when i moved to asia how refreshing it was to see woman from europe and asia who were proud to be women and dressed like women. no pant suits in indo or the philipines.
