Streaming Tv Show Sites Content Suggestions

I recently lost my slingbox service from the US (boo hoo) so I am looking at the usual alternative ways of getting interesting video content. Aside from youtube and torrents, I have found these two sites very wonderful `for getting shows I used to watch via slingbox.

comedycentral com --

The Daily Show

Colbert Nation

Both of those in case you don't know are comedy type shows mainly focusing on US political topics, but also often non-political personalities are guests as well. Both are huge shows in the US, I can't judge if non-US people would like them or even understand much of the humor (especially Colbert who acts like a right wing lunatic as a satire thing), but you might!

Also, South Park, definite international appeal, and some stand up comedy shows as well, etc.

I love that site!

Also like --

current com

Just go there and check it out. Lots of variety, I think lots of international appeal. Has low budget documentaries that are sometimes good and fresh, quite often from Asia as well. It's a mixed bag. Plus rotten tomatoes show about new movie releases, related to the rottentomatoes website I reckon.

Well those are my picks. Do you have any to share with others here? Not restricted to US based stuff, of course.

It's all good, but I meant to emphasize I am mostly seeking info on CURRENT tv shows, streaming directly the entire current shows, as the two examples I posted.

Not everything is widely seeded/on torrents and it seems a good thing to limit torrenting when you can.

Some really good suggestions here, thanks!

Have had some problem so far watching Glee on casttv. It streams fine for awhile and then if my internet burps for a moment, it freezes. Then restarting it, it shows it remembers where it stopped, but never plays again, unless starting all over. Oh well.

With veetle I found CNN. This is good for me as my Pattaya cable system doesn't have it, the only USA based news network they have is Fox, so very happy to not have to watch right wing Fox for USA based tv news.

OK, if you want to see CNN international (and this version may be more Asia oriented based on some brief viewing) you can use this site --

http://streampinoy.info/cnn-news-channel-live-streaming.html

I much prefer US based CNN, the programming is very different (lots of Anderson Cooper) and perhaps some hope again. The icon is back on veetle, but not really working yet for me. The CNN on veetle when it does work is the US based version from what I can tell so far.

That one streams very well.

The first results of a Google search query 'CNN News Live Streaming' look interesting although they don't load here, but maybe for somebody with better internet they will, not sure. Like this one

Found this interesting,

To start open Windows Media Player. Press the keyboard combination [CTRL U] to open a small window where an url of a media stream can be entered. Paste the following url in the form exactly as it is shown below:

rtsp://cnn-cnnlive-1-primary.wm.llnwd.net/cnn_cnnlive_1_primary/

Hit ok to load the stream. It usually takes a few seconds before the stream becomes active due to the buffering process. After that everything should run smooth and fine.

source

Just does not work here, is it my poor internet or not accessible from this region ?

And this option for VLC Media Player:

Watch CNN Live Stream with VLC

Well this is pretty handy. Thanks to Lifehacker for making a generic post out of the gHacks original. The URL is:

rtsp://cnn-cnnlive-1-primary.wm.llnwd.net/cnn_cnnlive_1_primary/

Streaming Television: Watch CNN Live and Full-screen with VLC

But users on any platform can use free, open-source VLC to play the stream. Download and install VLC, then select File > Open Network. Select HTTP/FTP/MMS/RTSP from the list of protocols on the left, and paste the rtsp:// URL from gHacks in the text area at the top. Now you can watch CNN live, full-screen and commercial free

Does not work, it seems CNN has changed the stream URL, also tried this one http://edition.cnn.c...?stream=stream1 that seems to be their main live stream, but does not work in VLC either, anyway all we need to find in the working stream URL and paste this into VLC or WMP.

Not like my earlier post, Livestation does offer CNN link, however only as Premium version, for 4,99/month. Livestation can be watched via the website or the downloadable player.

All I've ever gotten in Thailand from the "like this one" site is a player saying CNN Live will be right back, but it never comes back, or starts in the first place.

BTW, veetle CNN is back. One thing I am not clear about on the veetle US CNN is whether this is actually a live stream or maybe just a replay of a recorded stream. Can't tell as yet.

The Pinoy international CNN seems definitely fully live.
