October 24, 201015 yr Does anybody but me see anything wrong with this extravagance? ______________________________________________________ To ensure fool-proof security, the President’s team has booked the entire the Taj Mahal Hotel, including 570 rooms, all banquets and restaurants. Since his security contingent and staff will comprise a huge number, 125 rooms at Taj President have also been booked, apart from 80 to 90 rooms each in Grand Hyatt and The Oberoi hotels. The NCPA, where the President is expected to meet representatives from the business community, has also been entirely booked. The officer said, “Obama’s contingent is huge. There are two jumbo jets coming along with Air Force One, which will be flanked by security jets. There will be 30 to 40 secret service agents, who will arrive before him. The President’s convoy has 45 cars, including the Lincoln Continental in which the President travels.” Since Obama will stay in a hotel that is on sea front, elaborate coastal security arrangements have been made by the US Navy in consonance with the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard. “There will be US naval ships, along with Indian vessels , patrolling the sea till about 330-km from the shore. This is to negate the possibility of a missile being fired from a distance,” the officer said. The President will be accompanied by his chefs, not because he would not like to savour Indian cuisine, but to ensure his food is not spiked. US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are scheduled to land in Mumbai on November 6. I don't think " illinois village idiot" will catch on. Not original and not apt,...... unlike "Texan village idiot" (or village idiot Texan, as you prefer) which is funny and so so apt.
October 24, 201015 yr "Does anybody but me see anything wrong with this extravagance?" Since so much security is needed, it could hardly be called extravagance....or would you like to see the pres assasinated? Perhaps if the VIT hadn't left such a legacy of hatred towards America, the "extravagance" would not be needed.

Even after all these years Germany is a dangerous place. Not the Germans this time, but the individuals they allow free reign within their borders. Speaking of Germans - had a great time last Friday at an Octoberfest party at the Grand Hyatt here in Dubai. Sausages, saurkraut , liter Weissbeiers and plenty of drinking songs. They know how to throw a party!

It's the ol' double standard. When there were tight security measures for Bush, the press focused on the unhappy residents. Today, I'm sure the residents are still unhappy but it's unlikely you'll read many stories about it.

As was your statement about the non-existent S-300 SAMS lining the borders of Saudi Arabia.

I hope all you atheists will forgive a Biblical reference and not report me for blaspheming your religion, but... "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways." Harry, you might wish to digest these words and apply them to your very sophomoric humour.

The US Air Force has grounded its entire fleet of F-15 fighter jets after a jet crashed on a training mission in Missouri last week. Use of the planes will be restricted until a possible structural failure in the aircraft has been investigated, an air force spokesman said. F-15s have had several accidents this year, although the current suspension is linked only to last week's crash. The Air Force now says hundreds of jets are to undergo urgent safety checks, including those on mission in Afghanistan. The planes are no longer used in Iraq. Orders to ground an entire fleet of planes are not common. Air Force spokeswoman Jennifer Bently said that she did not know when the step had last been taken. Although the decision to ground the F-15s was based solely on the Missouri crash, the jets have been involved in three other accidents in recent months.

Last I heard on the crash on Aziz, was the pilot pulled a high G turn, blacked out, and lost control. So, UG or whoever may not be alone in believing they may lack some pilot skills, their maintenance personnel also managed to burn one to a crisp sitting in the hangar on the same base. That's why there is a constant flow of western technicians in and out. They try to go it on their own, and after a year or two, and they don't have anything left to fly, they call back the westerners. I haven' talked to any of the F-15 guys in quite awhile, but appears they need help again. http://www.jsfirm.com/searchjobs.asp Apologies for going off topic! :jap: Anyway, on the topic, I do think it's an unnecessary trip considering what is likely to accomplished, especially when he's got his hands full at home.

October 25, 201015 yr Not you. You were just responding to Naam's usual yank-bashing post that had nothing to do with anything.
October 25, 201015 yr The US GDP is approximately 14.2 trillion dollars. The UK is 2.6 trillion. California is 1.8 trillion. Australia 1 trillion. To figure out if Obama is being a spendthrift one would have to figure the size of his economy. I would expect the leader of a large nation to spend more money than a small nation. If one is responsible for a larger population and larger expenditures it stands to reason that a trip would cost more money. I would expect the PM of the UK to spend something more in line with what the governor of California would spend than the President of the United States. If the mayor of Cedar Rapids Iowa went on a trip I would not expect him to spend as much as the governor of California. Really how hard is it to run a country whose GDP is only the size of a couple of States.
October 25, 201015 yr I would expect the leader of a large nation to spend more money than a small nation. Not if the large nation is practically broke. Maybe he just wanted to show Michelle that his entourage was bigger AND the gov't would pay for 100% of it.

November 4, 201015 yr Author Since the Obama administration invasion of India is imminent I thought a little update would be appropriate. 1. It seems a carrier task force of 34 war ships are being sent to patrol the waters off India to protect the family and an unknown sized entourage of their closest friends and employees. http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/34-warships-sent-from-us-for-obama-visit-64459 2. All the innocent tree borne coconuts are being sacrificed lest one fall on the royal noggin. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/8109295/Coconuts-removed-from-trees-in-preparation-for-Barack-Obamas-India-trip.html 3. Forty vehicles will transport VIPs of the entourage while any Republicans will be relegated to the back of the plane, as well as the vehicle the Obama team is still trying to get out of the ditch by digging deeper. This looks to be a grand show, befitting the royalty involved. :jap:
November 4, 201015 yr Isn't the Taj the hotel that a handfull of heavily armed Paki terrorists strolled into last year, killed scores of people, and held the place for a day or so before Indian troops got the courage to go in and kill them? They came ashore unhindered in small boats. Perhaps the security is justified. Would you guys be so upset if it was President Palin spending the money?

They came ashore unhindered in small boats. Perhaps the security is justified. Would you guys be so upset if it was President Palin spending the money? Yes, the terrorists came ashore in small fishing vessels authorized to be in the port. I hardly think it calls for a 34 ship flotilla including at least one nuclear powered aircraft carrier and it's attendant Battle Group. Some security is justified. A full scale invasion fleet is hardly justifiable security. In response to your last question. Yes, I would be just as upset with President Palin as with President Obama. Interesting to note you have already given her the title, though.
November 4, 201015 yr 3. Forty vehicles will transport VIPs of the entourage while any Republicans will be relegated to the back of the plane, as well as the vehicle the Obama team is still trying to get out of the ditch by digging deeper. Everyone knows the partying happens in the back.
November 4, 201015 yr Would you guys be so upset if it was President Palin spending the money? Not me. I believe in protecting our president at any cost - even if he belongs to the party I care for the least. In addition, Obama is a horribly mediocre president. Totally over his head, I'm sure I could do a better job. I don't want the president assasinated in any case, but if it happens to The One, he will go down in history as some great leader, etc. It would be Camelot x 100.
November 4, 201015 yr I don't want the president assasinated in any case, Puppets like Zobama & the Texas village idiot don't get assassinated...Why destroy a useful tool? Sadly one like Ron Paul would probably not last long at all.

Someone that knows both you and Obama might go so far as to say delusional, or correct......but they would have to know the both of you....However, having got to know a little of your intellect, and Obama's. and having a hint of the enormity of the job, I would say that your claim may be a bit on the wild side.

So you know Obama's intellect? And you know this from watching him on TV reading from a teleprompter? I wonder if you realise that intellect has little to do with leadership abilitiy or decision making ability? IF Obama is such a great intellectual, how to explain his gross incompetence and need to read everything even when speaking to small school children? I can explain it - he's an empty suit.
