Traffic Cops On The Hua Hin By Pass Route

Couldn't help noticing the heavy presence of traffic police on the Hua Hin by pass route every time I drive it. There was two separate operations near each end of the road today on both sides. Unlike before when they might hide off the road to catch a right lane hogger, today they had the cones out and inspected every car at both spots inc DL checks for foreigners (in my case). Geographically I cannot see any reason for this hot spot other than assuming the BIB at this area are short on tea money. The rest of the southern highway as far as Surat at least is usually trouble free.
